"In horror, anything can happen...and usually does. That's why we love it."
Nina Romain is living proof that small children shouldn't be taken trick-or-treating in 80s darkest Alabama - they tend to end up writing and producing Halloween-obsessed horror shorts!
She is a London-based organised and experienced writer and producer, whose 16 horror shorts – shot in the UK and LA – have screened or selected in over 167 film festivals globally. A true “crew allrounder”, she has 10 years’ experience in London features and short films, mainly horror, comedy and drama. She has worked on features as second AD, script supervisor, BTS/videographer, location manager and production manager assistant.
Her work has been screened in the UK's largest International genre film festival FrightFest, on horror feature: “Are We Dead Yet?” and Raindance-screened "Love Possibly". She also worked on UK dramedies "Love's Spell" and "On the Other Foot" (as 2nd AD and continuity). She's done some weird and wonderful crew work, including as a camera assistant for the US reality show "The Amazing Race" as well as an SA on Netflix series “The Crown”.
Nina is also an experienced Production Manager Asst, having worked on Sundance-screened feature Love Possibly, as a locations manager and script supervisor with strong organisational and prioritisation abilities.
An AD and production manager assistant, she also works as a script supervisor and locations manager and was continuity in 2019's FrightFest-screened UK horror feature "Are We Dead Yet?". Her horror shorts tend to be shot half in the more elegantly-seedy side of Los Angeles and half in the more haunted side of the UK.
Nina Romain also is a script reviewer for Coverfly, Scriptapalooza, Women in Horror Film Festival as well as London Short Film festival. She also blogs for Raindance, does film PR, and BTS photography.
Her most recent found footage short, Trapped in Time, was released in the summer of '24 and has screened in the States' Severed Limbs film festival, and London's Halloween Horror Film Festival. It was also nominated for Ontario's Couch Film Festival and AltFF Film Festival, and selected by Fortean Film Festival, and will screen in Horror on Sea in January 2025.
