Organized by the Brazilian Vegetarian Society, the event was launched in 2009, in the city of Curitiba, and aims to create a debate on animal rights and the socio-environmental impacts that the interaction of humans with other animals can bring.

The films are shown to the general public free of charge, and previous editions brought together renowned artists, environmentalists, activists, authorities, writers and, above all, admirers and defenders of animals.

Organizado pela Sociedade Vegetariana Brasileira, o evento foi lançado em 2009, na cidade de Curitiba, e tem como objetivo criar um debate sobre os direitos dos animais e os impactos socioambientais que a interação dos humanos com os outros animais podem trazer.

Os filmes são exibidos ao público em geral gratuitamente, e as edições anteriores reuniram artistas consagrados, ambientalistas, ativistas, autoridades, escritores, escritoras e, principalmente, admiradoras, admiradores, defensoras e defensores dos animais.

Awards & Prizes

The Oscow Award – the Oscar with a cow head – was designed and created by members of the Curitiba SVB group to represent the ironic tone against glamour, luxury and alienation, characteristically traits of the human high society, contrasting with the sad reality of animal exploitation. The statuettes will be given as a homage to films according to the audience’s will. This way, the Oscow represents the exaltation of the Mostra Animal soul, being cooperative rather than competitive.
For the 2022 edition, Oscow will be in NFT (non-fungible token).

O prêmio Oscow – Oscar com cabeça de vaca – foi idealizado e criado por integrantes da SVB Curitiba para representar o tom irônico contra o glamour, o luxo e alienação característicos de eventos da alta sociedade humana em contraste com a triste realidade da exploração animal. As estatuetas eram entregues aos filmes homenageados de acordo com indicação do público. Desta forma o Oscow representa a exaltação do espírito da Mostra Animal.

Rules & Terms

Professionals or beginners in Directing or Production of short, medium or feature films, with themes related to animal rights or about the relationships of human beings with other animals, can submit their works through the website.

The exhibition is not competitive. The films are curated in order to select those that will be shown to the public and can receive honors for their production.

Show your point of view and help spread new ideas and solutions! Videos, movies and clips produced in any format and duration may enroll.

In order to participate in the Film Festival, it is necessary to send the film file in digital format for download along with the completed and signed application form to the e-mail indicated in the Regulation.

Profissionais ou iniciantes em Direção ou Produção de filmes de curta, média ou longa metragem, com temática relacionada ao direito dos animais ou sobre as relações dos seres humanos com outros animais, podem inscrever suas obras gratuitamente pelo site.
A Mostra não é competitiva, sendo assim, os filmes passam por curadoria a fim de selecionar aqueles que serão exibidos ao público e podem receber homenagens por sua produção.
