Now in its sixth season, Luna Lumen's Film Festival has built its reputation on one simple belief: every filmmaker deserves to be seen.

We're a fast-growing niche festival — and 2026 is our most exciting year yet. Unlike traditional festivals where you submit and wait in silence, Luna Lumen's is built for connection, recognition, and real engagement. When you enter, you receive:

1. The Luna Laurel Award — A chance to win our exclusive, trademarked sculpture, hand-molded and cast by artisans. A trophy as distinctive as the films we celebrate.
OTT Platform Screening — Winning films screen on our private streaming platform, with secure, login-protected screening rooms. We extend your reach through our networks at IMDb and AFM.

2. Constructive Consideration — Within one week of submission, you'll receive personalized feedback from our panel of experienced industry professionals. Not generic notes — thoughtful, targeted insight delivered with respect for your craft. This is a commitment we make to every filmmaker, at every stage of our growth.

3. We're also carving out a curated selection of niche categories that reflect where cinema is heading. Our team brings focused expertise to each one — so the feedback and recognition you receive is never one-size-fits-all.

This is Luna Lumen's. Come for the categories. Stay for the community.

Our Niche Categories are as follows:

Best Original Score
internationally Multi Awarded Film Composer, Orchestrator and Sound Designer that is the director of the category, Andreu Jacob will be providing his feedback and will be vital and important industry information regarding the scoring in your film.

Best Nostalgia
This niche category is for film that is not digital film. Our director of this category is Don Cunningham who specializes in traditional film like Super 8, 16mm. This unique category can be very creative giving filmmakers an excellent opportunity to show their unique abilities in nostalgic filmmaking. Because of Cunningham's expertise this direction will make his feedback valuable.

Best Animation
Director of Animation, Jorge Morais who holds a master's degree in animation whose work has garnered significant national and international acclaim, achieving selection in over 300 festivals and amassing 125 awards globally. He is masterful in his abilities, and his feedback will be vital.

Best Comedy & Best Horror
In these two categories we are niche because we are tapped into panelist who are diehard fans of the genres. There is no one more important than fan feedback especially for these two markets that have huge success as being fan driven and can be produced with a low budget and good profit margins.

Best Hybrid
Hybrid is creating a unique cinematic experience emerging technologies in storytelling with AI/CGI. Leisa Coffman is an Avant-garde creator and created this category because she enjoys exploring different techniques and has her own unique artistic methods in film editing. She believes AI/CGI techniques should only be a partner and not replacement and should not be more than 30% of what an artist creates if utilized. Her feedback will be useful and helpful.

Best Documentary
We believe some films don't just tell stories — they sound alarms, shift perspectives, and move people to act.

Our Best Documentary category welcomes all documentary filmmakers, with a special emphasis on films rooted in conscious awareness. For those tackling urgent, timely, or humanitarian subjects, we offer a dedicated screening room designed to connect your film with the exact audience it was made for. Luna Lumen's is a festival with heart — and this category reflects that.

A unique opportunity beyond the festival:
Luna Lumen produces its own Conscious Awareness Docuseries. If your film touches on a topic we're covering, we may invite you — with your full permission — to have excerpts featured in the series, with credited recognition. It's one more way we help your work reach further and your message land harder.

All documentaries are welcome. But if your film has a purpose bigger than the screen, you've found your festival.

The Luna Laurel Award — Our own trademarked sculpture, hand-molded and cast by artisans. A trophy as distinctive as the films we celebrate.

OTT Platform Screening — Winning films screen on our private streaming platform, with secure, login-protected screening rooms. We extend your reach through our networks at IMDb and AFM.

  • Don Cunningham

This festival was conducted online this year, but that is no slight! The director was very welcoming and treated each selection with care and love; the goal of sharing work. Thank you for a wonderful event.

    Response from festival:

Thanks for the praise. We so enjoyed The Castle of Baron Finch and the Nostalgia!! We strive to make the online festival very personal. Truth is we are registered as an online festival and as an "extra" but not required started doing live screenings as a "test market" last year! We will never "lack" here at LLFF we love film too much to not give it our all. Also, we do network via IMDB. :)
