The 2nd Inner West Film Fest will be bigger and bolder than ever! This festival is a celebration of film culture and the diverse voices that bring it to life centred in Sydney vibrant Inner West.

We believe in the power of film to inspire, educate, and entertain. From Balmain to Marrickville and everywhere in between we are committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.

At the Inner West Film Fest you can expect to discover a range of films that showcase the talents of emerging and established filmmakers from around the world. From gripping dramas and heart-warming comedies to thought-provoking documentaries and family films, our line-up reflects the rich tapestry of human experience and storytelling.

In addition to film screenings, the Inner West Film Fest also offers a variety of interactive events, including Q&A sessions with filmmakers, workshops, and panel discussions.

Whether you’re a film buff or just looking for a fun and exciting way to spend part of your day, there’s something for everyone at the Inner West Film Fest.

We can’t wait to share the amazing films and enriching activities with you and look forward to seeing you at the festival!

Rules & Terms

If you are thinking about submitting a film to Inner West Film Fest, here are some things to consider:

1. Your film must include at least one cast member, crew member or location from the Inner West of Sydney.

2. It doesn't have to be brand new. We are looking at seeing some films made in the Inner West from the past, hidden in the vault - so unlock that digital safe and lets bring the classic shorts of yesteryear to a new audience

3. Films can be any genre or type (including web series, documentary and narrative).

4. All short films must be under 10 minutes.

5. You must have the rights to use any copyrighted material such as music and content. It is the filmmakers’ responsibility to ensure they have cleared and gained all rights.

6. You must provide an accessible and downloadable link to your film (1920 x 1080 HD or higher) via Vimeo or YouTube. Please use an 'unlisted' link if your film is not public.

7. You must submit your film by the closing date.

8. You are warmly encouraged to attend with your entourage

    Excellent organisation from Dov and Greg. I had a very rewarding experience: my film was screened in two different events, I met interesting people [including fellow filmmakers and film enthusiasts], and attended a gin mixing event at Uninvited Guest distillery. I also won a prize from Sydney Sound Brewery, all thanks to great partnerships and sponsors. Looking forward to next year's installment

    What a wonderful festival and opportunity my film was given by the Inner West Film Fest! My film played a handful of times throughout the festivals run which catered for so many ranges of filmmakers and gave voice to each one of them! I highly recommend this festival to anyone here or abroad.

    Highly recommend this festival! Communication was frequent and felt personal. Events were photographed beautifully with quick turn arounds. My short (and many others) were also offered a second screening to be partnered with a feature film in great venues. The pitching event is an amazing networking opportunity. I will do my best to attend every year from now on, even just as a patron, not just as a filmmaker! I feel very lucky to be involved with this event, definitely one of the better festival experiences I've had as a filmmaker, congrats to the team on a fantastic festival.
