This is the fifth year the Gar's Film Festival is taking place, and we're very excited!

We are organizing this festival to encourage people make documentary about their hard rock and heavy metal bands, to make other understand how hard it can be sometimes to be a musicians.

The winners of the Audience Award (for both Feature film and Music video) and the Festival jury Award will have the possibility to show their movies at the Garasjefestival in June.

Awards & Prizes

The winner of the Film Festival and of the Audience Award will have their film screened at The Garasjefestival, a heavy metal festival to be hosted at the very same location, but as an open air festival, in June 2022.

The winning director are welcome to guest The Garasjefestival in June, and to hold an introduction speech for their movies.

The three winners get the possibility to have a residency at Garasjefestival in June.
The residency consist of free lodging and an official screening arranged by Garasjefestival. This will happen during the festival.

Rules & Terms

We are now opened for submission.
~ We are looking for films or documentary which tell us real stories of struggle inside the heavy metal environment. We don't wish to receive footage from tour or live shows, but if there's some kind of a strong story included we may value it anyway.

~ We wish to receive full-lenght movies, anyway over 40 min.
~ The creator or who submits the film needs to declare to owe the total author rights of the film.
~ The film MUST have english subtitles.
~ The fee to participate is 10 USD in Regular Deadline.
~ Movies being submitted after thie Regular Deadline will not be accepted
~ The submission will be opened from January 13th to April 1st 2022.
~ If your film is accepted, we will need your film in good quality before April 15th 2022.
