ABOUT FEST

FEST is a festival that celebrates the art of filmmaking and storytelling through a vibrant lineup of activities, including cutting-edge film screenings from emerging filmmakers, Q&A sessions, masterclasses, workshops, debates, project development competitions, awards ceremonies, concerts and much more.

FEST is one of the leading platforms for emerging filmmakers to network, enhance their film knowledge and develop new projects, as well as personally interact with the world’s leading filmmakers. In FEST, film professionals, up-and-coming and established alike, come together to present their work, develop their skills and create synergies. The event is a one-of-a-kind opportunity that offers participants a fest track to the film industry and creates meaningful connections with like-minded peers worldwide.

During the week, renowned names from the film industry come to Espinho to share their professional experiences across a wide range of areas. From sound and post-production to casting and performance, cinema professionals—whether at the start of their careers or already established—will find an activity of interest in our program.

We are proud to have hosted in FEST guest speakers such as Asghar Farhadi, Béla Tarr, Gaspar Noé, Fernando Trueba, Nadine Labaki, Melissa Leo, Roman Coppola, Joe Walker, Gemma Jackson, Ed Lachman, Tom Stern, Finola Dwyer, Irvine Welsh, Allan Starski, Eugenio Caballero, Angela Allen, Iain Smith, just to name a few.
