Belicosa is a company that works from the idea's conception to distribution. We offer consulting, workshops, production services, post-production supervision, and distribution.
The concept of Belicosa emerged during the pandemic in 2021 as a digital magazine in collaboration with Xácara Culture to highlight the work and art of women who boldly "show their claws." This initiative sought to challenge the notion that "bellicose" was inherently linked to conflict and disruption of social norms—an idea we wholeheartedly embrace.
In 2022, Minerva produced her first short film under the figure of Belicosa, "A ver Nice Guy", which premiered at Guanajuato International Film Festival in 2023. In 2024, she won the Mexican Institute's support to film her newest Short Film, "Be Grateful", Belicosa's most recent production, in collaboration with Víctor Léycegui and Connie Castillo.
In 2023, Minerva secured her first paid project, "The Fish Tank", conducted a free distribution workshop, and launched an intensive online course in collaboration with Maya Ochoa. In 2024, she participated in Locarno Academy México and as a sponsor at the Monterrey International Film Festival, where she held a Distribution Workshop and gave a Distribution Award for a local short film.
Belicosa Films & Distribution now seeks finished projects and in postproduction by emerging filmmakers, particularly women and members of the LGBT+ community, for distribution.
Our goal is to produce films, give advice to new filmmakers, and distribute short films and soon feature films also.
We aim to support creators throughout the whole process of filmmaking helping them produce high-quality work with enhanced festival opportunities.
