The CARUARU CINEMA FESTIVAL is a space for the dissemination of local cultural elements, exchanges between Brazilian and foreign filmmakers, the promotion of local productions and the formation of audiences, with exhibitions, workshops and debates. The Festival includes educational actions such as the production of films within educational institutions and the provision of specific sessions for students.
O FESTIVAL DE CINEMA DE CARUARU é um espaço de difusão dos elementos culturais locais, de intercâmbio entre realizadores brasileiros e estrangeiros, de incentivo às produções locais e de formação de público, com exibições, oficinas e debates. O Festival inclui ações educativas como o incentivo a produção de filmes dentro das instituições de ensino e a oferta de sessões específicas para estudantes.

THE COMPETITIVE SHOWS
a) University Short Film Show: Films with free themes; which have not been awarded in other festivals until the date of their registration; with direction and script of undergraduate students; enrolled in a teaching institution established in Agreste of the state of Pernambuco.
b) Agreste Show of Short Film: Films set in the Agreste region of the states of Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Sergipe, Alagoas and Bahia showing at least one of the items: natural and urban spaces, social themes, history or local values . The directors and producers must be from these states mentioned.
c) Brazil Short Film Show: Free-themed films, from any Brazilian state, set in Brazil and directed by Brazilians (co-directed films must have at least one Brazilian born).
d) Brazil Feature Film: Free-themed films, from any Brazilian state, set in Brazil and directed by Brazilians (films with co-direction must have at least one Brazilian born).
e) Ibero-American Short Film Show: Free-themed films produced and directed by native or resident in Portugal, Spain, Andorra and Spanish-American countries and set in these countries. Movies that are not spoken in Portuguese should have subtitles in Portuguese.
f) Children's Short Film Show: Brazilian films intended for children.
g) Youth Short Film Show: Brazilian films intended for adolescents.
Short films of up to 20 minutes and feature lengths of between 70 and 120 minutes (including credits) will be accepted.
Films must have been finalized from January 2017 and have a digital copy (h264 or h265) at a minimum resolution of 1920x1080. The evaluation copy must, at the time of registration, be available for download, even at a lower resolution than the display copy.
The registration must be done by completing the registration form on the website festivaldecaruaru.com.br (for the University shows, Agreste and Brazil short films) and the platform filmfreeway.com (for short and long Brazilian shows, Ibero-American , Children and Youth).
Each filmmaker must send in the image file the poster (60x90cm) and a frame of the film to the e-mail: email@example.com.
The directors of the University Show must also send a registration statement for the director and the screenwriter.
Films that are not fully inscribed will not be able to participate in competitive shows. The data can be requested by the organization via email.
The registration period is from July 15 to August 15, 2018.
Films enrolled in competitive shows that are not selected for them may be entered in special sessions or in other competitive shows by a sole decision of the curators, being the director aware that he is authorizing the exhibition also outside the competition. The movie poster will be displayed at the event venue.
After the publication of the selected films the filmmakers can not withdraw their films from the Festival's screening and competition.
V. SCHEDULE AND LOCAL
The Festival will take place in the city of Caruaru - Pernambuco - Brazil, in November 2018.
The release of the selected films will take place on October 1, 2018 only in the festival fanpage (www.fb.com/festivaldecinemadecaruaru).
OF THE GENERAL PROVISIONS
Any problems related to copyright are left to the producers of the films.
The coordination of the Festival may use portions of up to 60 seconds, photos and technical information of the films in the dissemination of their activities, in any medium of communication, without burden for the organization of the Festival.
The organizers will be able to hold itinerant sessions for educational purposes and to publicize the event for one year after the event using any of the selected films.
It will be offered, limited to the budget availability, for a representative of each film, transportation, food and lodging expenses.
