Thais Helena Leite is a researcher, screenwriter and audiovisual director based in Guarapari/ES-Brazil. She was a Brazilian and African History teacher in public/private schools and social projects; researcher of the History of the State of ES, with a book in its 9th edition, out of print, today she coordinates the team for the Capixaba Heritage Portal project. At the age of 60, she began a new career: Audiovisual Director, after completing the Cinema and Audiovisual course at the Federal University of ES. He wrote and acted in the school short film Marés (14’, 2022), about artisanal fishermen from Vitória, which was released in Manchester, England, at the 9th Sahar International Short Film Festivals. This film was also selected at the 29th Vitória Film Festival, the 1st Festival de Cinema e Cultura do Mar (CE), the 1st Festival das Águas (ES), the 5th Movcidade Festival, the First Time Filmmaker (England) and the Festival El Grito de Los Sin Voz (Spain), seen by more than 5.000 people. Writing the script for his first feature film, Otilia ou Gabi (90 min) which was awarded at the 16th Festival Visões Periféricas 2023 (RJ) as 2nd best pitching. Mulheres Maratimbas (script, research and direction), unreleased, is her 1nd documentary.
