The Edmonton Film Prize returns for another exciting year, coordinated by the Edmonton Arts Council in collaboration with The City of Edmonton and AMPIA. This initiative aims to elevate Edmonton's reputation as a hub for extraordinary creation in the arts. The prize is free to apply and is open to directors and/or producers in the Greater Edmonton region.

Three cash prizes will be awarded at the Edmonton Arts Prize Awards in the spring of 2026. The grand prize winner will receive $15,000, with two runners-up each receiving $5,000.

  • Huge respect to the City of Edmonton and the Edmonton Screen Industries Office for continuing to back local creators through the Edmonton Film Prize. In an industry where you hear “no” more than “yes,” programs like this matter. They don’t just hand out recognition; they fuel momentum, confidence, and belief. They remind filmmakers that the city sees the grind, the late nights, the risks, the creative hustle, and the stories being built right here at home.

Edmonton has real talent. Gritty, original, world-class talent. And having a prize that celebrates local filmmakers, producers, writers, directors, editors, and storytellers is something we should all be proud of.

I’m truly grateful the City of Edmonton continues to invest in its creative community. It helps local projects travel farther, teams push harder, and stories from our city find audiences well beyond Alberta.

To everyone behind the Edmonton Film Prize, thank you for championing the artists who choose to build here.

Proud to be part of this community. Proud to keep telling stories from Edmonton to the world.

    Creative hustle lives here.
