As a potential entry, and even as the process is still unfolding, my experience with the Detroit Independent Film Festival has been incredibly positive. The festival demonstrates a strong commitment to elevating diverse voices and independent storytelling, creating space for meaningful narratives that often go unheard.

From communication to overall organization, the team has been professional, responsive, and clearly passionate about supporting filmmakers. There is an undeniable energy around the festival that reflects Detroit’s rich creative spirit and cultural legacy.

I’m looking forward to seeing how the remainder of the festival continues to highlight powerful stories and connect artists with audiences in impactful ways.

  • Thank you to the festival, the jury, and everyone who supported my work. My film was born from a personal place: the Korea of my childhood, marked by hardship, yet filled with compassion. I wanted to show how a nation can grow—and how, even in poverty, people can protect one another through love and community. AI helped me bring these memories back with a new visual language. I am sincerely grateful that you welcomed this story with such open hearts.

  • What a great platform for independent film, such as my drama, Reparations. Good communication too.
