Daniela Di Salvo is an independent filmmaker and screenwriter from Toronto with a background in graphic design and the performing arts.
Her short film Welcome Home swept the 2022 Independent Shorts Awards in Los Angeles, winning Best Mobile Short, Best Microfilm, and Best Director (Female). The film went on to win Best Sci-Fi Short and Best Director (Female) at Indie Short Fest.
Daniela is currently developing Humdrum, a feature-length psychological body horror. Its proof-of-concept short script won Best Short Script at Indie Short Fest (March 2026) and was one of four selected for the Script Workshop and table read at the Cascadia International Film Festival. The feature script was also a semifinalist in the BlueCat Screenplay Competition and was brought to the Fall 2025 Stowe Story Labs Writers Retreat in Vermont, where she was a selected participant. She is also in development on We Carry the Sky, an apocalyptic creature feature.
Daniela writes psychological horror and dark, absurdist drama that explores inherited trauma, grief, familial duty, and the body as a site of violence.
