Daniela Di Salvo is a Toronto based independent filmmaker. Her most recent film, a short documentary entitled, "Painting the Boogeyman", won Best Documentary Short at the Berlin International Art Film Festival. Her 2022 short film "Welcome Home," won Best Mobile Short, Best Micro Film, and she was nominated for Best Director (Female) at the Independent Shorts Awards in Los Angeles. The film also won Best Sci-Fi Short and Best Director (Female) at Indie Short Fest. Her short comedy, "It's Desmond," has also played in over 35 film festivals around the world. Daniela is inspired by the otherworldly-light and dark expressions of the world around us. The beauty, the ugly, the dark, and the sweet.
For me, the moving image pointed to feelings I had during the pandemic that language failed to adequately express. I had to create a moving image–a film that captured the colour of my thoughts and the glimmer of hope that we hang onto in times of uncertainty.
