RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE CAMPINAS FILM FESTIVAL
I. Competition
The Campinas Film Festival (hereinafter referred to as the Festival) will take place in Campinas-SP-Brazil on a previously announced date, and online.
The Festival will receive entries for the competitions:
IN THE NATIONAL FORMAT (ONLY for FILMS directed by Brazilian FILMMAKERS):
• FEATURE FILM – competition for the best BRAZILIAN film*;
• SHORT FILM – competition for the best BRAZILIAN short film* (length up to 30 minutes);
• DOCUMENTARY – competition for the best BRAZILIAN Documentary* (length up to 30 minutes);
• ANIMATION – competition for the best BRAZILIAN animated film* (length up to 30 minutes);
• STUDENT – competition for the best film made by a Brazilian student* (length up to 30 minutes).
*In the event of a lack of sufficient short films to prepare a set of films of high artistic level, the organizer has the right to combine competitions into one competition for the Best BRAZILIAN Short Film.
IN THE INTERNATIONAL FORMAT: the competition will award prizes from other regions of the world through films made by independent artists, students and amateurs of other nationalities.
• FEATURE FILM – competition for the best international film (must be subtitled in Portuguese or English);
• SHORT FILM – competition for the best international short film (must be subtitled in Portuguese or English - duration up to 30 minutes);
• ANIMATION – competition for the best international animation (must be subtitled in Portuguese or English - duration up to 30 minutes) directed by artists (students, amateurs, independents) from all over the world; • DOCUMENTARY – competition for the best international documentary (must be subtitled in Portuguese or English - duration up to 30 minutes), aimed at artists (students, amateurs, independents) from all over the world.
• STUDENT – competition for the best international student film (duration up to 30 minutes).
II. Organizer
The creator and promoter of the Festival is the Ogawa Butoh Center, (hereinafter referred to as the Organizer). The person representing the Organizer is: João Butoh – Director and Curator of the Campinas Film Festival.
Only the Ogawa Butoh Center holds the copyright and intellectual property rights to the entire Festival.
III. Conditions of Participation
1. Participants in the competition must be over 15 years old (except for the STUDENT category) and be involved in filmmaking.
2. The film entered may not be longer than 30 minutes (except for Feature Films).
3. The film must have all the qualities that commonly classify it as the film being submitted (feature film, short film, documentary, animation).
4. The submitted films will be pre-selected.
5. The Festival will qualify and evaluate the films according to its own subjective criteria. The Participant has no right to oppose the qualifications and evaluation of the Selection Committee.
6. The films must be submitted within the deadline.
7. The Festival will only consider submissions submitted through the website: https://filmfreeway.com/CampinasFilmFestival .
8. The international submission must include the film with subtitles in Portuguese or English.
9. The list of films selected for the Festival will be announced within the previously announced deadline.
10. Each participant may submit a maximum of 2 films. Submissions without attachments will not be accepted.
IV. Evaluation of the films
11. The films will be evaluated for the Competition by the festival director.
12. The Director's task is to decide the competition in each of the formats in accordance with the provisions of these Regulations and the principles of fairness and justice.
13. The Festival awards prizes to the best films of the Festival, awarded in each of the competitions. It is also possible that there will be other prizes awarded by cultural institutions and the public.
14. The decisions of the Judging are final and conclusive and are not subject to appeal.
V. Copyright
15. The person submitting the film or its director declares that he is the owner of the film or its director on his behalf, with the consent of the copyright holder and to him personally, not the Organizer (mentioned in Chapter II of these Regulations), who will not be subject to any possible dispute regarding this issue.
16. The person submitting the film gives his consent to the screening of his production during the Festival and during other promotional events of the Festival organized by the Organizer.
17. The person submitting the film gives his/her consent to use parts of his/her work in television programs covering the Festival.
18. The person submitting the film declares that he/she will not demand any payment for the screening of his/her work during the Festival and post-Festival events promoting the Festival.
VI. Technical remarks
19. All entries submitted to the competition will remain in the archives of the Organizer.
VII. Responsibility of the Organizer and the Participants of the Competition
20. The Organizer is not responsible for the violation of any law relating to the projects submitted by the Participants.
21. The Organizer is not responsible for claims by third parties regarding the copyright of the submitted films.
22. The participants are solely responsible for the events mentioned above.
VIII. Declarations of the Participants, protection of personal data
23. The Participants are obliged to comply with the provisions of these Rules and Regulations.
24. By submitting the film, the participant also accepts the provisions of these Rules and Regulations and consents to the inclusion of his/her personal data in the Organizer's temporary database and to its processing by the Organizer exclusively for the purposes of organizing the competition, to the extent necessary for its proper functioning. 25. By accepting these Rules and Regulations, Participants also irrevocably declare that: o they voluntarily agree to participate in the competition, that their identity presented to the Organizer is true, and that they agree to the publication and use of the film submitted for the competition for competition purposes, under the conditions described in these Rules, as well as screenings to promote the Festival.
IX. Final provisions
26. These Rules and Regulations are in force and published on the website https://filmfreeway.com/CampinasFilmFestival.
27. The Competition Rules and Regulations are available for the entire duration from the date of publication at https://filmfreeway.com/CampinasFilmFestival. The Competition Rules and Regulations are also available for consultation on the Organizer's website.
28. All information about the Competition contained in promotional and advertising materials is merely incidental, and the rights and obligations of the Participants and the Competition Organizer are governed by the law and by the provisions of these Rules.
29. The rules and regulations may be subject to change. All Participants will be informed in advance of any changes. The Organizer reserves the right to suspend, discontinue, extend or cancel the Contest without giving any reason.
30. Changes to these Rules and Regulations will be applied from this date.
31. Matters not covered by these Rules and Regulations will be decided by the festival organization.
32. The Contest Participant must immediately notify the Organizer of any change of address or other data provided for the Contest.
33. Submitting films through https://filmfreeway.com/CampinasFilmFestival is equivalent to reading these Rules and accepting their conditions. Multiple Submissions: When submitting more than one project, each must have its own submission material.
34. No entry must have been commercially exhibited or released in video format or available on the internet prior to the Festival dates (exceptions may be made for Festival categories). 35. Those selected will be notified by email. Those not selected will be notified by email the following week.
36. The selected projects will have the following material available on the FilmFreeway website:
· Stills from the film and biographies and photos of the directors and main actors;
· 60-second music video or digital trailer for promotional press;
· Project synopsis, cast and crew credits.
