We discover and celebrate independent films and artists globally!

The Asian Independent Film Festival is a monthly live screening with a yearly red carpet mega event held in India.

Every season, the AIFF establishes a comprehensive hierarchy of the most important films in the festival circuit, awarding a considerable number of projects in several different categories.

Besides the red carpet mega event, the AIFF directly qualifies the monthly top award-winning projects for the annual event to celebrate the best of the year.

All entries are judged by a team of invited experts from academia and the film industry against a high standard of merit and a very competitive acceptance rate.

All projects that are officially selected in each monthly round will receive the AIFF official laurel and a custom certificate of achievement according to their final status in the competition.
Annual winners will receive the AIFF trophy, certificate, and official laurel.

At least 3 different judges score the quality and creativity of each entry. The highest rated entries are nominated for the awards of the respective categories and finally the winners are chosen.

In addition to the "Winners" of each category, there are also "Finalists", and "Honorable Mentions".

The event date in FilmFreeway designates the day of the announcement of the award winners for each monthly round.

The special screenings and the annual awards have a different timeline that is announced through our website and social media outlets. All submitters are always kept in the loop and informed in advance to be able to make the preparations to attend the events.

By submitting the film, the submitter agrees that:

1. The films must include English subtitles (unless the spoken language is English).
2. AIFF can use trailers, teasers, film posters, stills or BTS for promotional purpose (but do not release, under any form or circumstances, the full film)
3. The decision of the Jury will be final and can’t be challenged.
4. Once the film submitted can’t be withdrawn in any circumstances, however festival director reserve the rights to disqualify any film on certain grounds.
5. By submitting movie to AIFF, filmmaker/producer takes the whole responsibility of copyright issues of music, script and other creative and technical aspects of film.
6. Only the season winning films will be screened at monthly events.
7. Only the yearly winning films will be screened at annual events.

This Festival is a pleasant surprise packet as it appears unobtrusive yet the level of communication, organisation, administration and objective Jurists is refreshing for someone who has become a bit jaded with dodgy festivals. This is a well organised, first rate organisation who judge the work on its merits and maintain a regular correspondence with film makers. I was very pleased that they accepted and recognised my documentary, The Witchdoctor and the Windmill as an award winner and thank all involved. Highly recommend.
