1. Rules & Terms
The Scream Awards film and screenplay competitions are open to all individuals and organizations involved in both professional and amateur filmmaking including current working professionals and aspiring newcomers to the industry. Entry materials may consist of published or unpublished work.
Entries that have won awards in past Scream Awards competitions are not eligible for the current competition. There is no limit to the number of entries that may be submitted by any entrant, nor is there a limit to the number of categories you may enter. A completed online entry form and fee must accompany each entry.
2. Unacceptable Material
Entries that contain obscene material, pornography, propagate hate messages, or which are otherwise deemed offensive are not eligible and will be immediately disqualified. Ineligible entries may be disqualified at any phase of the competition without notification.
3. Acknowledgement of Entries
Entrants will receive an email acknowledgment when an entry has been received.
4. Conditions of Entry / Terms of Service
The Scream Awards assumes all entries are original and the entrant either owns the work or has permission from an appropriate party to enter the work. In the event that an entrant without such permission submits an entry, the entrant will not be eligible for the competition. The Scream Awards are not liable for any copyright infringement on the part of the entrant. By submitting your work to the contest you agree to hold us, our partners, employees, and affiliates harmless from any any all claims and liability.
Timely submission of an entry meeting the eligibility requirements and payment of the entry fee as stated herein ensures that an entrant's work will be reviewed and considered for recognition. No other representation or warranty is made by the Scream Awards concerning entries and all implied warranties are hereby expressly disclaimed.
If an entry receives an award, the manner and details of announcing such nomination and award is strictly within the discretion of the Scream Awards.
By submitting your work to the Scream Awards you represent that you have read and agree to all rules, terms and conditions.
The Scream Awards reserves the right to make any necessary changes to event scheduling or event programming.
Entry fees are non-refundable.
The awarding decisions of the Official Jury and Judges are final and cannot be reversed.
Entrants retain all of their rights, title and ownership in their works and intellectual property.
5. Foreign Entries
All foreign entries that depend on language must be dubbed or subtitled in English.
6.Film Entries
All entries should use FilmFreeway.
All notifications and responses by the Scream Awards will be issued via email.
Works in progress are accepted.
Films should have been completed no earlier than four years prior to the submission date.
Entrants of all ages are eligible for the film competition.
7. Screenplay Entries
Screenplays written by up to four people may be entered in the competition. Only one entry fee and one entry form is required for such entries. All authors' names should be listed on the online entry form.
The Scream Awards will not share your script with anyone except the judges of the competition.
Hardcopy script materials will not be returned.
Scripts should be no longer than 185 pages.
Scripts must be uploaded via electronic file through FilmFreeway.
Entrants may submit multiple script entries.
Screenplay entrants retain all of their rights, title and interest in their works, screenplays, and intellectual property.
Once you have submitted your screenplay, we cannot accept a new or updated version. If you wish to submit a new version you will have to re-submit the project using the same entry process.
Entrants of all ages are eligible to participate in our screenplay contest.
