-Finn Taylor, Director Unleashed & 3 Time Director Sundance Film Festival

"Can't say enough about how wonderful SBE's Hamilton International Film Festival has been. Truly honored to have our film "My Hero" included and I want to thank Grant & Todd Slater and everyone else involved for such a great experience. Just amazing.
Hope you'll have us back next year!"

- Loring Murtha, Actor/Director My Hero

"SBE’s Hamilton International Film Festival presents an incredible opportunity to network with other ambitious filmmakers, exchange ideas and fundraising strategies while experiencing the charm of Hamilton, New York. The Hamilton Theater is a gorgeous venue and Grant Slater has put together a 5 star festival with a great selection of film, food and local beers. This is a must-attend festival that offers more than just frivolous laurels to it’s filmmakers… one could say that you leave Hamilton with a new group of friends that offer a different perspective on making and watching movies!"

-D.J. Higgins Director, Writer/Producer Meet Mario

"The charm and intimacy of the Hamilton International Film Festival makes it a MUST for all filmmakers. Grant and Todd Slater and the entire Hamilton community couldn't be more hospitable. I can't wait to make another film just so I can come back!!"

-Doug Dearth, Producer/Director Underdogs

"It was an absolute honour to be part of such a well respected film festival. Thanks to the help, hard work and commitment from SBE my career in the UK has gone from strength to strength. My Single, Worry hit the iTunes Download chart and peaked at Number 6. The follow up track I've recently released has hit the viral UK Top 50 on Spotify and we have now put a European Tour together. Its thanks to people such as Grant believing in me from an early stage of my development that has helped me get to where I am now."

-Sebastian Tree
United Kingdom Recording Artist

“Had a great time this past weekend in Hamilton, NY at the Hamilton International Film Festival with Tika Simone. "Five Dollars" was received with nothing but positive reviews from a beautifully sold out theater! Huge thanks goes out to Grant Slater and the Slater Brothers for being great hosts once again!"

- Rez Ota, Producer/Director FIve Dollars

We have safely arrived in Austria and I just wanted to thank you once again for the invitation, as well as the chance to present Noriko at your festival. I had a really great time, for it was one of the most intimate and passionate festivals I’ve ever been to.

It was a great experience to be part of the HIFF. Thank you for the support.

What a lovely festival. I had the privilege of showing my short film, "On the Sidewalk, at Night" at HNYIFF. Not only was my film included with top notch stories, it was well received by the festival's dedicated audience of local college town artists and movie-goers. I'm a student filmmaker with no money but Todd and Grant were so dedicated to bringing me out that they setup a complimentary room for me in the magnificent hotel across the street. Thank you Todd and Grant. I look forward to bringing my next film over to you and HNYIFF.

If you are reading this, are you considering submitting your film to the HNYIDFF? Please stop reading my review and just do it! It’s definitely worth your time.

Still reading? Well, thank you -- here's why I think you should submit: Todd and Grant Slater and their entire crew are organized, friendly, and know how to create a welcoming environment for all filmmakers. They are skilled at selecting films (both short and feature length) that entertain, delight, educate and make you think. As a seasoned stage director who is new to film, I felt honored and welcomed throughout the entire process. And the networking opportunities are amazing! There is such great talent that attends the HNYIFF, and they are very open and willing to share successes and pitfalls. I learned a lot, swapped "behind the scenes" techniques, and felt supported and encouraged to continue my craft in film.

Oh, and the Village of Hamilton is beautiful. It is the quintessential definition of sleepy eastern college town. There are so many quaint mom and pop shops to visit (although there isn't a lot of time to explore since the Slater Brothers are masterful at scheduling events that you don't want to miss), historical sites within driving distance, gorgeous walks, fabulous urban hiking to view historical homes, golfing, and water activities on Lake Moraine.

The bottom line is that I had a great time attending the 13th annual HNYIFF. It was exhilarating, fun, and educational. My overall experience was magical! I hope to attend HNYIFF again regardless it’s as a filmmaker or patron.

  • I've been lucky enough to have attended Hamilton NY several times over the past few years with projects I shot, but couldn't review the fest until being selected as a director. Now I can! This "small-town" (in the best way) fest has always been top notch, with impressive selections, outstanding hospitality, and a community of programmers and filmmakers who care, are interested in the work, and interesting as well.
I will continue to submit every film I direct.

    Superb!

HNYIFF is what you think of when you hear the words "film festival." Don't miss it!
