Jennifer Ruth is a writer/filmmaker and SAG-AFTRA actor based in NE Ohio and NYC. Hailing originally from Hamilton, NY, a small college town, she is the daughter of art-loving academics and grew up going to movies, theatre, opera, and music, soon knowing in her heart that a life in performing arts was meant for her. She fell in love with acting and filmmaking particularly because they invited her to bring her imagination and collaborative spirit to every project she is part of, and hopefully inspire people through storytelling.
As an actor, she has appeared in iconic theatre classics and engaging independent films, originated roles in world premiere new plays, danced as Ashley Olsen’s stand-in on "Saturday Night Live", and moonlighted as nurses and bar-hoppers on daytime dramas "All My Children" and "One Life to Live."
Her directorial debut short "Lydia Rising" screened at the Oregon Cinema Arts Film Festival, the Saint Louis Sci-Fi and Fantasy Film Festival's OMNIMAX screen, and the Texas Short Film Festival, and she is currently developing a feature film based on her 2nd short "Ray", a supernatural drama short, and 3 pilots.
