Film, social affairs, culture and art meet for a weekend. The film festival highlights topics that are associated with the social project "Waldhüttl" Innsbruck supporting Roma and Romjas. It is essential that the planning takes place together with the residents of the Waldhüttl. According to the principle "Culture & Art Against Poverty", a supporting program with various opportunities for social exchange is offered.
It is possible to submit films throughout the year, which the film curatorship selects for the main date in the Waldhüttl as well as for the Ontour dates. The selected and screened films are awarded a certificate of recognition every quarter.
The Main Event is once a year at the location of the socialproject waldhüttl, in Innsbruck, Austria. It´s 13th of June 2026
The deadline for film submissions is on 18th of April 2026.

ONTOUR appointments (in Tyrol/Austria) are arranged throughout the year. For these events, the jury selects submissions on the respective main topics.

All events are free entry.

Awards & Prizes

Due to the social focus of this film festival and possibly emotional film topics, we keep our distance from a conventional competition. The opportunity to celebrate life through the supporting program is all the more important to us.
The jury team nominates the best films for the tour from all submissions. These films are listed as "OnTour Nominations."
Screened films receive an "Official Selection".

Rules & Terms

The "film festival in the waldhüttl" would like to offer social interests a projection surface. Films are therefore accepted for submission that address social issues in a broader sense or illuminate social coexistence, in or far from home. The focal points in the "Waldhüttl" are: housing, migration, poverty, sustainability, nature and good coexistence - that's what we want to bring to the canvas.

Submission criteria :

- Short films are accepted as well as feature films, feature films, documentaries and experimental films. Main topics: social issues, Roma & Romnja, inequality, housing, migration, sustainability, good coexistence.
- Only one film per submitter is permitted.
- Subtitles encouraged
- Submission takes place via a download link, alternatively a registered delivery of the storage medium after consultation with the festival board of trustees
- Projection format - mp4 h264. The festival has no infrastructure to be able to show DCPs.
- Brief description of the film (max. 500 characters)
- Film still or the film poster as JPG, PNG or PDF (maximum size 4MB)

- We have the right to screen the film at our events for free.
