We are a festival showcasing films made by Filipino filmmakers from around the world in support of the Philippine Independence Day celebrations in the Netherlands.

This year, we also invite International short films for screening to hundreds of Filipino audience in the Netherlands. LIVE SCREENING during the independence day picnic near Amsterdam organised by Kalayaan Fiesta Foundation Netherlands.

€ 300 Prize for Best Filipino Short Film
€ 200 Prize for Best International Short Film
€ 150 Prize for Best Filipino Student Short Film

Open submission:

1. To Filipino films not exceeding 30 minutes running time.
2. To fiction and non-fiction short films made between 2021-2023.
3. To short films that are made by Filipino citizen or by a filmmaker who has Filipino heritage from any part of the world. Students and amateur filmmakers are also encouraged to submit.
4. To themes and stories that fit within the festival objectives: they must present Filipino culture and arts, or films showing the beauty of the Philippines, or stories that highlight positive Filipino characteristics and identities.
5. To International and Asian short films with unique cultural and social themes not exceeding 30 minutes running time.
6. To entries submitted on or before Sunday, May 19, 2023.
7. Submit thru FilmFreeway. Complete press kit in the submission form. This includes a short synopsis in English, the director’s statement and biography, a full list of cast and crew and additional publicity materials such as trailers, film posters and at least two (2) stills.

Technical Requirements:

8. Accepted film resolutions: HD or 2K.
9. Audio: Stereo or Surround.
10. Any aspect ratio is allowed.
11. With English subtitles.

After submission:

12. Wait for the announcement of official entries. We will notify all the film entrants May 28, 2023. All entries will also be announced on official websites and social media pages.
13. All submissions are screened and evaluated by an invited jury.
14. Criteria for judging is based on creativity, uniqueness of storytelling and entertainment value.
15. Filmmakers must give permission to the festival to download their films through the submission platform or provide us with an HD quality digital copy of the film in (Pro Res 422) or an H264 file if applicable.
16. Filmmakers agree to exhibit their films for online screening for a limited period from June 4, 2023 and on the live screening and awarding in the Netherlands on June 10, 2023 at the KFFN's Philippine Independence Day in Spaarnwoude Houtrak, Halfweg, The Netherlands.
17. The filmmakers and/or the production company allow the use of their film’s Press Kit for promotional purposes.
18. Certificates will be given to Best Filipino Short Film, Best International Short Film, Best Filipino Student Short Film, Best Director and Best Film Performance. Best Short Film wins a cash prize of 300 euros. Best International Film receives a cash prize of 200 euros.
