FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE CINE DE LA OTREDAD

General participation guidelines:
• Project registration must be done through the registration form on the FilmFreeway platform.
• Registration is entirely free, both at the opening of the call and close to its deadline.
• All short films, in any technique, are eligible, as long as the author holds the rights to the presented work.
• The competing work must have been produced between January 2021 and the closing date of this call. Participation in other festivals, exhibitions, and contests is allowed.
• Registration is open to people of any nationality, whether residing in Mexican territory or not.

The competition registration will be exclusively online, following these specifications:

Works must be submitted electronically via a protected viewing link, including the password in the registration form.
Short films containing dialogues in a language other than Spanish must be subtitled in Spanish.
Upon registration, FICOT will confirm the receipt of the material by sending an automated copy of the registration form. The deadline for submitting works is June 28, 2024.

Received works may be selected for exhibition, outside of the competition.

Selection process:
• The choice of winning projects will be the responsibility of a jury composed of specialists with a recognized career in the film industry. Their names will be announced on the FICOT website after the call's closure.
• The official selection of the Festival will be screened at the University of Guanajuato venues and exhibited online on the Festival's website during the Festival days, with an additional week (with the author's authorization).
• The Official Selection will be announced on Monday, August 9, 2024, on the FICOT website and social media, accompanied by an image and technical details of each project.
• The selected individuals will be contacted directly by the Festival organization for material submission details.
• If attending the screening of their short film, directors may participate in question and answer sessions.
• In case of attending the Festival, travel and accommodation expenses must be covered by the participant. They can communicate this through the email ficotredad@gmail.com for advisory and connection with our partners.
• A participation recognition will be sent after the Festival's conclusion.
• Participation in this competition implies the full acceptance of these rules.

The exhibition rights of the resulting short films will belong to the International Film Festival of Otherness. Both FICOT and the production team have the right to exhibit and promote them at any time.

Any doubts and comments should be sent to the email ficotredad@gmail.com with the subject: (OFFICIAL SELECTION) and indicate the name of the representing short film.

Unforeseen cases will be resolved by FICOT and the call committee.

Normas generales de participación:

• El registro de proyectos deberá ser a través del formulario de inscripción, en la plataforma FilmFreeway.
• El registro es totalmente gratuito, tanto a la apertura de la convocatoria, como próxima a su cierre.
• La duración máxima de su cortometraje deberá ser de 15 min.
• Podrán participar todos los cortometrajes, en cualquier técnica, siempre y cuando el autor posea los derechos sobre la obra presentada.
• El trabajo a concurso tiene que haber sido producido entre enero de 2021 y la fecha de cierre de la presente convocatoria. Se permite que haya participado en otros festivales, muestras y concursos.
• Podrán inscribirse todas las personas sin importar su nacionalidad, residentes o no en el territorio mexicano.

La inscripción del concurso se realizará exclusivamente vía online, bajo las siguientes especificaciones:

1. Los trabajos deberán ser enviados electrónicamente mediante un enlace de visionado protegido incluyendo la contraseña en el formulario de registro.

2. Los cortometrajes que contengan diálogos en un idioma que no sea el español deberán estar subtitulados en español.

Los trabajos recibidos podrán ser seleccionados para muestra, fuera de competencia.

Proceso de selección:
• La elección de proyectos ganadores serán responsabilidad de un jurado, integrado por especialistas de reconocida trayectoria en el mundo del cine. Sus nombres serán dados a conocer en la página web del FICOT tras el cierre de la convocatoria.
• La selección oficial del Festival se proyectará en sedes de la Universidad de Guanajuato y será exhibida online en el sitio web del Festival, durante los días del Festival. Y una semana de continuidad (con autorización del autor).
• La Selección Oficial será anunciada el lunes 09 de agosto de 2024 en la página web y las redes sociales de FICOT; acompañada de una imagen y una ficha técnica de cada proyecto.
• Los seleccionados serán contactados directamente por la organización del Festival para detalles sobre envió de materiales.
• En caso de asistir a la proyección de su cortometraje, el director podrá participar en sesiones de preguntas y respuestas.
• En caso de asistir al Festival los gastos de traslado y estancia que pudiesen generar deberán ser cubiertos por cuenta del participante. Pueden comunicarlo por medio del correo ficotredad@gmail.com para fines de asesoramiento y vinculación con nuestros aliados.
• Se enviará posterior al término del Festival, un reconocimiento de participación.
• La participación en este concurso presupone la aceptación íntegra de estas bases.
LOS DERECHOS de exhibición de los cortometrajes resultantes pertenecerán al Festival Internacional de Cine de la Otredad. Tanto FICOT como el equipo de producción tendrá el derecho de exhibirlos y promocionarlos en cualquier momento.
Todas las dudas y comentarios deberán ser enviadas al correo: ficotredad@gmail.com con el asunto: (SELECCIÓN OFICIAL) e indicar el nombre del cortometraje que representa.
Los casos no previstos serán resueltos por FICOT y el comité de convocatorias.
