International African Film Festival of Argentina 2024 (FICAA)
Entry rules and conditions. Edition 2024.
1.- FEATURE FILMS, MEDIUM-LENGTH FILMS AND SHORT FILMS
This Festival organized by Observatorio Sur aims to disseminate the film production of African and Afro-descendant filmmakers and productions of authors of other nationalities who, through their works, propose different views on the history and realities of Africans and Afro-descendants.
2. - DATE OF THE FESTIVAL: To be held in June/July 2024.
3. - LOCATION: Buenos Aires, Argentina.
4.- SECTIONS AND CATEGORIES
The Festival program will include competitive and non-competitive sections. The programmed films will be included in the section considered appropriate by the selection committee.
Fiction, documentary, experimental and animation films may participate.
The competitive categories are:
- Short and medium-length films (up to 40 minutes long).
- Feature films (over 40 minutes long).
Independent productions made in African countries or related to the African continent, its people and its diasporas are welcome.
5. - GENERAL CONDITIONS OF REGISTRATION
a) Works may participate with no production deadline. Each participant may register more than one work.
b) Registration will be open from July 15 until October 15, 2023.
c) Send the link to the film for online viewing (Vimeo, Dropbox, Wetransfer or other online delivery platforms). The link will only be used by the programming team for the selection process.
d) Once the film has been selected, the owner will be asked to provide a high quality copy for its exhibition at the Festival and will receive the official FICAA selection laurels.
e) The Festival is financially exempt from the payment of screening fees. The registration fee for this Festival, which is not for profit and most of the entries are free or very economical, DOES NOT INCLUDE THE ORGANIZATION'S PAYMENT OF FEE.
f) Films must be presented in their original version, preferably with Spanish subtitles.
TRANSLATIONS: Taking into account that the Festival is aimed at an Argentine audience, films not spoken in Spanish will be screened with subtitles. In the event that the filmmakers have a Spanish subtitled version, this version will be preferred by the Festival.
g) Once registered and selected, no film may be withdrawn from the competition.
h) The authors of the works grant permission to the festival organization to use their publicity (trailer, poster and stills) in promotional uses of the festival.
i) The authors of the selected works give permission to the festival organization to project their works in future editions, itinerancies and activities of the festival, informing the respective authors.
The selected works must send the following materials:
● 3 photographs of the film in high definition.
● 1 photograph of director and producer
● Official poster
● Synopsis in Spanish (if possible)
● 1 promotional sequence or clip (trailer).
● Optional materials (Press kit, original music tracks, etc.).
These materials may be published on the Festival's website and social networks to promote the competition. In the case of texts and audios, they could be used for press, radio and TV broadcasting.
6. - JURY
a) The jury will be composed of personalities from the audiovisual media, arts and culture, Afro-descendant collectives or researchers on the subject.
b) Persons who are directly related to the works in competition are disqualified from being part of the jury.
c) The jury's decision is final.
7. - AWARDS
The Festival Jury will highlight the following categories:
- Best Feature Film Award.
- Best Short or Medium-length Film Award.
- Jury Mentions in each category.
The winning films will be announced at the closing event of the Festival, where diplomas will be awarded for each category. In addition, we will send the laurels for each FICAA award.
8. - ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS - TRANSFER OF RIGHTS
Registration in International African Film Festival of Argentina (FICAA) implies the acceptance of these terms and conditions and the assignment of the screening rights of the material submitted for the purpose of dissemination of this edition, as well as future editions from the date of selection of the material.
Furthermore, together with the signature of these terms and conditions, the owners of the work agree to transfer the rights of projection and reproduction of the same for the purpose of its exhibition at the International African Film Festival of Argentina (FICAA) (in the national territory) as well as for its publicity diffusion.
9. - RIGHTS OF THE PARTICIPATING WORKS
By submitting the application form, the director and/or producer declares that he/she owns the intellectual property and/or exploitation rights of the work. The organization is not responsible for issues that violate the respective laws in relation to this point.
a) The participants declare that they are the sole and real owners of the audiovisual works submitted to the festival, both in the case of being the author and the assignee of the same. In case of falseness in the affidavit, the responsibility for any third party claim will be exclusively of the participant who submits the work, and the Festival will not be liable to any third party.
b) The participants declare to hold harmless the International African Film Festival of Argentina (FICAA) for any claim regarding the ownership of the work and/or lack of authorization regarding the rights contained therein.
10. - ITINERANT SCREENINGS
The selected films may be included, after the Festival, in itinerant non-profit cycles organized in the country. In the case of international screenings, authorization will be requested from the filmmakers.
Through an agreement with the Mariano Moreno National Library of Argentina, the African Film Festival of Argentina (FICAA) collaborates with the Center for the Study of African Affairs in the creation of a public archive specialized in African cinema. Unless expressly denied by the authors, a copy of the selected films will be consigned to the Archive of African cinema, for educational purposes. 11 - ACCEPTANCE
PARTICIPATION IN THE INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF AFRICAN CINEMA OF ARGENTINA (FICAA) IMPLIES KNOWLEDGE AND FULL ACCEPTANCE OF THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS. ANY EXCEPTION, DOUBT OR CONFLICT WILL BE EVALUATED AND RESOLVED BY THE FESTIVAL'S ORGANIZING COMMITTEE.

Festival Internacional de Cine Africano de Argentina 2024 (FICAA)
Reglamento de inscripción. Edición 2024.
1.- LARGOMETRAJES, MEDIOMETRAJES Y CORTOMETRAJES
Este Festival organizado por Observatorio Sur tiene como objetivo difundir la producción cinematográfica de realizadoras/es africanas/os, afrodescendientes y producciones de autores de otras nacionalidades que a través de sus obras proponen distintas miradas sobre la historia y las realidades de las/los africanas/os y afrodescendientes.
2. - FECHA DEL FESTIVAL: Se realizará en junio/julio 2024.
3. - LUGAR: Buenos Aires, Argentina.
4.- SECCIONES Y CATEGORÍAS
La programación del Festival incluirá secciones competitivas y no competitivas. Los filmes programados serán incluidos en la sección que el comité de selección considere apropiada.
Podrán participar películas de ficción, documentales, experimentales y de animación.
Las categorías competitivas son:
- Cortos y mediometrajes (hasta 40 minutos de duración).
- Largometrajes (superior a 40 minutos de duración).
Se reciben obras de producción independiente realizadas en países de África o relacionadas con el continente africano, su gente y sus diásporas.
5. - CONDICIONES GENERALES DE INSCRIPCIÓN
a) Podrán participar obras sin fecha límite de producción. Cada participante podrá inscribir más de una obra.
b) La inscripción estará abierta del 15 de julio hasta el 15 de octubre de 2023.
c) Enviar el link de la película para su visionado online (Vimeo, Dropbox, Wetransfer u otras plataformas de envío en línea). El enlace será utilizado únicamente por parte del equipo de programación para el proceso de selección.
d) Una vez seleccionada la obra, se solicitará al titular una copia de óptima calidad para su exhibición en el Festival y recibirá los laureles de selección oficial FICAA.
e) El Festival se exime económicamente del pago por los derechos de reproducción. La inscripción a este Festival, sin fines de lucro y con entradas en su mayoría gratuitas o muy económicas, NO INCLUYE EL PAGO DE FEE DE PARTE DE LA ORGANIZACIÓN.
f) Las películas deberán presentarse en versión original, preferentemente con subtítulos en castellano.
TRADUCCIONES: Teniendo en cuenta que el Festival apunta a un público argentino, las películas no habladas en español se proyectarán con subtítulos. En el caso de que los/as realizadores dispongan de versión subtitulada al español, ésta será de preferencia para el Festival.
g) Una vez inscripta y seleccionada, ninguna película podrá ser retirada de la competición.
h) Los/as autores/as de las obras conceden permiso a la organización del festival para utilizar su publicidad (tráiler, cartel y fotogramas) en usos promocionales del festival.
i) Los/as autores/as de las obras seleccionadas dan permiso a la organización del festival para proyectar sus obras en futuras ediciones, itinerancias y actividades del festival, informando a los/as respectivos/as autores/as.
Las obras seleccionadas deberán enviar los siguientes materiales:
● 3 fotografías de la película en alta definición
● 1 fotografía de directora/or y productor/a
● Afiche oficial
● Sinópsis en español (de ser posible)
● 1 secuencia o clip promocional (trailer).
● Materiales opcionales (Press kit, tracks de música original, etc.)
Estos materiales podrán ser publicados en la página web del Festival y las redes sociales para promocionar el certamen. En el caso de los textos y audios, podrían ser utilizados para la difusión en prensa, radios y TV.
6. - JURADO
a) El jurado estará compuesto por personalidades del medio audiovisual, de las artes y la cultura, de colectivos afrodescendientes o investigadores del tema.
b) Están inhabilitadas de formar parte del jurado personas que estén directamente relacionadas con las obras en competencia.
c) El fallo del jurado es inapelable.
7. - PREMIOS
El jurado del Festival destacará las siguientes categorías:
• Premio Mejor Largometraje.
• Premio Mejor Cortometraje o mediometraje.
• Menciones del Jurado en cada categoría.
Las películas ganadoras se anunciarán en el evento de cierre del Festival, donde se entregarán diplomas para cada categoría. Además, enviaremos los laureles de cada premio FICAA.
8. - ACEPTACIÓN BASES Y CONDICIONES – CESIÓN DE DERECHOS
La inscripción en el Festival Internacional de Cine Africano de Argentina (FICAA) implica la aceptación de las presentes bases y condiciones y la cesión de los derechos de proyección del material presentado a los efectos de la difusión de esta edición, así como de ediciones futuras a partir de la fecha de selección del material.
Asimismo, conjuntamente con la firma de las presentes bases y condiciones, los/las titulares de la obra aceptan ceder los derechos de proyección y reproducción de la misma a los fines de su exposición en el Festival Internacional de Cine Africano de Argentina (FICAA) (en el territorio nacional) así como para su difusión publicitaria.
9. - DERECHOS DE LAS OBRAS PARTICIPANTES
Con el envío de la ficha de postulación, el/la director/a y/o productor/a declara poseer los derechos de propiedad intelectual y/o explotación de la obra. La organización no se hace responsable por temas que infrinjan las leyes respectivas en relación con este punto.
a) Los participantes manifiestan ser los únicos y reales titulares de las obras audiovisuales que se presentan al festival, tanto en caso de ser autor como de ser cesionario de los mismos. En caso de falsedad en la declaración jurada, por no resultar titulares de los mismos la responsabilidad frente a cualquier reclamo de terceros será exclusivamente del participante que presenta la obra, sin tener el Festival nada que responder frente a terceros.
b) Los participantes manifiestan dejar indemne al Festival Internacional de Cine Africano de Argentina (FICAA) por cualquier reclamo respecto de la titularidad de la obra y/o falta de autorización respecto de los derechos contenidos en las mismas.
10. - MUESTRAS ITINERANTES
Las películas seleccionadas podrán ser incluidas, luego del Festival, en ciclos itinerantes sin fines de lucro organizados por el país. En el caso de muestras internacionales, se solicitará autorización a los realizadores.
Por un convenio con la Biblioteca Nacional Mariano Moreno de la República Argentina, el Festival de Cine Africano de Argentina (FICAA) colabora con el Centro de Estudios de Asuntos Africanos en la generación de un archivo público especializado en cine africano. Salvo expresa negativa por parte de los autores, una copia de las películas seleccionadas será consignada al Archivo de cine africano, para fines educativos. LA PARTICIPACIÓN EN FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE CINE AFRICANO DE ARGENTINA (FICAA) IMPLICA EL CONOCIMIENTO Y TOTAL ACEPTACIÓN DE LAS PRESENTES BASES Y CONDICIONES. CUALQUIER EXCEPCIÓN, DUDA O CONFLICTO, SERÁ EVALUADA Y RESUELTA POR LA COMISIÓN ORGANIZADORA DEL FESTIVAL.
