BASES OFICIALES - 18vo HAYAH FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE CORTOMETRAJES DE PANAMÁ (2026)
PERFIL
El HAYAH Festival Internacional de Cortometraje de Panamá, en su decimoctava edición, convoca a realizadores de Panamá y el mundo a participar en su concurso anual. Como el festival de cortometrajes más antiguo de Centroamérica, buscamos exhibir y premiar las mejores nuevas obras en formato corto.
FECHA DEL FESTIVAL
El 18vo Festival Hayah se realizará de manera presencial en la Ciudad de Panamá en noviembre de 2026.
CATEGORÍAS
- En Competencia: Ficción, Documental, Animación, Videoclip, Nuevos Directores (Exclusivo para Panamá).
- No Competitiva: FirstFrame (Exclusiva para Escuelas de Cine).
SELECCIÓN Y PREMIOS
El equipo de programación del festival es responsable de curar la Selección Oficial. Los cortometrajes seleccionados competirán por la Estatuilla HAYAH. El Jurado Oficial, compuesto por profesionales del cine, la cultura y la comunicación, otorgará los premios. El fallo es inapelable y se anunciará en la ceremonia de clausura en 2026.
REQUISITOS Y CONDICIONES DE PARTICIPACIÓN
1. Elegibilidad: Abierto a personas físicas o jurídicas de cualquier nacionalidad.
2. Límite de Obras: Máximo de cuatro (4) cortometrajes por director/a.
3. Fecha de Producción: Solo se aceptarán cortometrajes producidos después del 1 de enero de 2024.
4. Duración Máxima: La duración no debe exceder los 20 minutos, incluyendo créditos.
5. Estatus de Estreno:
- Internacionales: No deben haber sido exhibidos públicamente en Panamá ni estar disponibles en plataformas online (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) con acceso desde el territorio panameño antes del festival.
- Panameños: Pueden haber sido exhibidos en otros festivales de Panamá, pero no estar disponibles en plataformas online de acceso público.
6. Coproducciones Panameñas: Debido a restricciones geográficas automáticas de la plataforma, si su cortometraje es una coproducción con otro país y el sistema bloquea su inscripción en las categorías de Panamá, por favor aplique en la categoría "Internacional" de su género y contáctenos previamente a programacion@festivalhayah.com o info@festivalhayah.com con la información de su corto para proporcionarle un código de descuento (Waiver Code) correspondiente a la tarifa nacional.
7. Versiones Anteriores: No se aceptarán nuevas versiones de cortometrajes inscritos en ediciones pasadas.
8. Subtítulos:
- Obras cuyo idioma original no sea el español DEBEN incluir subtítulos en español.
- Se recomienda que las obras en español incluyan subtítulos en inglés para el jurado internacional.
9. Derechos de Exhibición: El participante declara poseer todos los derechos de autor sobre la obra (guion, imagen, música).

La convocatoria estará abierta del 6 de abril al 30 de junio de 2026.

- Internacional: $10.00 USD / FirstFrame: $5.00 USD / Panamá: Gratuito
- Inscripción Regular (1 al 31 de mayo de 2026):
- Internacional: $15.00 USD / Panamá & FirstFrame: $8.00 USD
- Inscripción Extendida (1 al 30 de junio de 2026):
- Internacional: $20.00 USD / Panamá & FirstFrame: $12.00 USD

ACEPTACIÓN DE LAS BASES
La inscripción implica la aceptación total de estas bases. Si el cortometraje es seleccionado, es obligatorio entregar un tráiler de máximo 1 minuto de duración.

OFFICIAL RULES - 18th HAYAH INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL OF PANAMA (2026)
PROFILE
The HAYAH International Short Film Festival of Panama, in its 18th edition, invites filmmakers from Panama and the world to participate in its annual competition. As the oldest short film festival in Central America, we seek to exhibit and award the best new short films.
FESTIVAL DATES
The 18th Hayah Festival will be held in person in Panama City in November 2026.
CATEGORIES
- In Competition: Fiction, Documentary, Animation, Music Video, New Directors (Exclusive for Panama).
- Non-Competitive: FirstFrame (Exclusively for Film Schools).
SELECTION AND AWARDS
The festival's programming team is responsible for curating the Official Selection. Selected short films will compete for the HAYAH Trophy. The Official Jury, composed of film, culture, and communication professionals, will grant the awards. The jury's decision is final and will be announced at the closing ceremony in 2026.
ELIGIBILITY AND SUBMISSION RULES
1. Eligibility: Open to individuals or legal entities of any nationality.
2. Submission Limit: A maximum of four (4) short films may be submitted per director.
3. Production Date: Only short films completed after January 1, 2024, are eligible.
4. Maximum Length: Running time must not exceed 20 minutes, including credits.
5. Premiere Status:
- International Films: Must not have been publicly screened in Panama nor be available on online platforms (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) accessible within Panamanian territory before the festival.
- Panamanian Films: May have been screened at other festivals in Panama, but must not be publicly available on online platforms.
6. Panamanian Co-productions: Due to automated geographic restrictions on the platform, if your short film is a co-production with another country and the system blocks your submission to the Panama categories, please apply to the "International" category of your genre and contact us beforehand at programacion@festivalhayah.com or info@festivalhayah.com with your film's information to receive a Waiver Code matching the national fee.
7. Previous Versions: New versions of films submitted in past editions will not be accepted.
8. Subtitles:
- Films whose original language is not Spanish MUST include Spanish subtitles.
- It is recommended that Spanish-language films include English subtitles for the international jury.
9. Screening Rights: The participant declares they hold all copyrights to the work (script, image, music).

ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES
Submission of a work implies full acceptance of these rules. If the short film is selected, it is mandatory to provide a trailer with a maximum duration of 1 minute.
