Since 2015 now, the Goree Cinema Festival offers free cultural events, film screenings , concerts and exhibitions as part of its activities.
Our editorial line has always been dedicated to promote audiovisual artistry within African communities and its diaspora.
A few months ago, we were writing that in "times of social distance and the barrier gesture to protect one's neighbor, expression becomes an invaluable act to preserve our humanities.". Consequently, this year we have chosen to design an online program, in order to continue to awaken curiosities to the cinema of Africa and its Diasporas.
Named "Seetaan", this African online cinema will strive to offer our audience an experience inspired by the same passion as our outdoor screenings on the memory island. We will therefore maintain the intimacy of our event by limiting access to each online screening to 500 viewers.
Thus the Gorée Cinéma Festival is launching a call for short and feature films. At the end of this selection process, about fifteen films will be selected and will form the basis of this edition which is scheduled to be launched in December 2020.
Applications can be submitted until November 1st. Now extended to November 15th
Films submitted must be the work of a filmmaker from Africa or the African Diaspora or address themes related to those communities and territories.
