CINE TEJO 2026 REGULATION
1. OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE CINE TEJO – International Short Film Festival of Ribatejo, organized by Benavente Municipal Council with production by Terra das Ideias, will take place from 25 to 27 September 2026 in Benavente, Portugal.
Set in the Ribatejo region, known for its cultural and scenic richness, the festival promotes audiovisual creation and the discovery of new cinematic talents, focusing on the exhibition of innovative short films and the recognition of emerging filmmakers. The festival aims to be a meeting point for filmmakers, audiences, and the local territory.
2. ELIGIBILITY Short films with a maximum duration of 15 minutes (credits not included), produced from 2020 onwards, are eligible for competition.

Submissions must be in digital format (MP4, ProRes, or DCP). Exhibition copies (exclusively in DCP, ProRes, or MP4 (H.264)) must include subtitles in Portuguese or English if the spoken language is not Portuguese. Films without dialogue are exempt from subtitles but must include an explanatory note in the submission.
3. COMPETITIONS, JURIES, AND AWARDS The jury will consist of up to 5 film and culture professionals and may be divided into specialized panels by category, as determined by the organization. Jurors will declare no direct connection to the competing works, ensuring impartiality in the evaluation.

4. SUBMISSIONS Submissions must be made exclusively through the FilmFreeway platform, following all indicated steps. Submissions open on 15 April 2026, with a deadline of 25 July 2026.
For participants under 18 years of age, submissions must be accompanied by a signed authorization from a legal guardian, sent via FilmFreeway.
Submission fees are detailed on FilmFreeway (consult the festival website). By submitting a work, the participant fully accepts this regulation.
IMPORTANT – NON-REAPPLY RULE: Any short film submitted on the previous edition for evaluation to CINE TEJO, whether or not it has been selected for competition, may not be submitted again in future editions of the festival. Any submission made in violation of this rule will be automatically rejected/disqualified.
5. SELECTION Selection results will be communicated by 15 August 2026. Those responsible for selected works must provide:
A high-resolution film still (minimum 300 dpi).
A dialogue list with timecodes (in Portuguese or English, if applicable).
A signed exhibition authorization.
A press kit (optional), including a synopsis, director's biography, poster, and/or additional photographs.
Selected participants will be notified by email by 15 August 2026. Lack of notification by this date implies that the work was not selected.
6. EXHIBITION COPIES Exhibition copies must be submitted by 1 September 2026 in DCP, ProRes, or MP4 (H.264) formats, with subtitles in Portuguese or English, if applicable. Failure to deliver by this date may result in the work's exclusion. Copies must be sent via FilmFreeway or a secure transfer link, as per the organization's instructions.
7. EXHIBITION AND PROMOTIONAL USE By participating in CINE TEJO 2026 and if their works are selected, participants grant the festival a non-exclusive license solely for exhibition during the event, extensions, or itinerant sessions, without monetary compensation. The festival may also use up to 10% of the selected works' content (such as excerpts or images) exclusively for CINE TEJO 2026 promotional purposes, in media such as television, social networks, or official event materials. Copyright remains fully with the original rights holders, and any use beyond the festival's scope requires express prior authorization.
8. VIDEO LIBRARY With the sole aim of promoting works among industry professionals, fostering exhibition or distribution opportunities, selected works may be archived by the festival for cultural and non-commercial purposes, such as retrospectives or educational activities, subject to express authorization from the filmmakers or producers.
9. EXTENSIONS AND ITINERANT ACTIVITIES The festival may organize extensions or itinerant sessions in other municipalities or events, with prior authorization from the filmmakers. No additional financial compensation will be provided for these exhibitions, unless otherwise agreed.
10. DIGITAL PLATFORMS In case of necessity (e.g., health or logistical restrictions), the festival may use VoD (video on demand) platforms for partial exhibition of its program, subject to prior authorization from the filmmakers or producers.
11. ALTERATIONS OR CANCELLATION In the event of cancellation, postponement, or significant changes to the festival format due to force majeure (such as natural disasters, pandemics, or other unforeseen circumstances), the organization will promptly notify selected participants. Submission fees are non-refundable, but the organization may offer alternative benefits, such as exhibition in future editions or on digital platforms, as agreed with the filmmakers.

REGULAMENTO – CINE TEJO 2026
1. OBJETIVO E ÂMBITO
CINE TEJO – Festival Internacional de Curtas-Metragens do Ribatejo, organizado pela Câmara Municipal de Benavente com produção da Terra das Ideias, decorrerá de 25 a 27 de setembro de 2026, em Benavente, Portugal.
Inserido na região do Ribatejo, conhecida pela sua riqueza cultural e paisagística, o festival promove a criação audiovisual e a descoberta de novos talentos cinematográficos, com enfoque na exibição de curtas-metragens inovadoras e na valorização de cineastas emergentes. O festival propõe-se, assim, como um espaço de encontro entre realizadores, público e território.
2. ELEGIBILIDADE
São admitidas a concurso curtas-metragens com duração máxima de 15 minutos (créditos não incluídos), produzidas a partir de 2020.

As obras devem ser submetidas em formato digital (MP4, ProRes ou DCP). As cópias para exibição (exclusivamente em DCP, ProRes ou MP4 (H.264)) devem incluir legendas em português ou inglês, caso a língua falada não seja português. Os filmes sem diálogos estão isentos de legendas, mas devem incluir uma nota explicativa na submissão.
3. COMPETIÇÕES, JÚRIS E PRÉMIOS
O júri será composto por até 5 profissionais do cinema e da cultura, podendo ser dividido em painéis especializados por categoria, conforme decisão da organização. Os jurados declaram não ter qualquer ligação direta com as obras concorrentes, garantindo imparcialidade na avaliação.

4. SUBMISSÕES
As inscrições devem ser feitas exclusivamente através da plataforma FilmFreeway, cumprindo todos os passos indicados. As inscrições abrem a 15 de abril de 2026, com prazo limite de submissão a 25 de julho de 2026.
Para participantes menores de 18 anos, a submissão deve ser acompanhada de uma autorização assinada por um responsável legal, enviada através do FilmFreeway.
As taxas de submissão estão detalhadas no FilmFreeway (consultar o site do festival). Ao submeter uma obra, o participante aceita integralmente este regulamento.
IMPORTANTE – REGRA DE NÃO REINSCRIÇÃO: Qualquer curta-metragem submetida na edição anterior para avaliação no CINE TEJO, selecionada ou não para concurso, não poderá ser inscrita novamente em edições futuras do festival. Qualquer submissão que viole esta regra será automaticamente rejeitada/disqualificada.
5. SELEÇÃO
Os resultados da seleção serão comunicados até 15 de agosto de 2026. Os responsáveis pelas obras selecionadas deverão enviar:
Uma fotografia em alta resolução do filme (mínimo 300 dpi).
Uma lista de diálogos com timecodes (em português ou inglês, se aplicável).
Uma autorização assinada para exibição.
Um kit de imprensa (opcional), contendo sinopse, biografia do realizador, cartaz e/ou fotografias adicionais.
Os selecionados serão notificados por e-mail até 15 de agosto de 2026. A ausência de notificação até esta data implica que a obra não foi selecionada.
6. CÓPIAS PARA EXIBIÇÃO
As cópias de exibição devem ser enviadas até 1 de setembro de 2026, nos formatos DCP, ProRes ou MP4 (H.264), com legendas em português ou inglês, se aplicável. A não entrega até esta data pode resultar na exclusão da obra. As cópias devem ser enviadas através do FilmFreeway ou por um link de transferência segura, conforme instruções da organização.
7. EXIBIÇÃO E UTILIZAÇÃO PROMOCIONAL
Ao participar no CINE TEJO 2026 e caso as suas obras sejam selecionadas, os participantes concedem ao festival uma licença não exclusiva, exclusivamente para exibição durante o evento, extensões ou sessões itinerantes, sem retribuição monetária. O festival poderá ainda utilizar até 10% do conteúdo das obras selecionadas (como excertos ou imagens), exclusivamente para fins promocionais do CINE TEJO 2026, em meios como televisão, redes sociais ou materiais oficiais do evento. Os direitos de autor permanecem integralmente com os detentores originais, e qualquer utilização fora do âmbito do festival requer autorização prévia expressa.
8. VÍDEO BIBLIOTECA
Com o objetivo exclusivo de promover as obras junto de profissionais do setor, potenciando oportunidades de exibição ou distribuição, as obras selecionadas poderão ser arquivadas pelo festival para fins culturais e não comerciais, como retrospetivas ou atividades educativas, mediante autorização expressa dos realizadores ou produtores.
9. EXTENSÕES E ATIVIDADES ITINERANTES
O festival poderá organizar extensões ou sessões itinerantes em outros municípios ou eventos, com autorização prévia dos realizadores. Não haverá compensação financeira adicional para estas exibições, salvo acordo em contrário.
10. PLATAFORMAS DIGITAIS
Em caso de necessidade (por exemplo, restrições sanitárias ou logísticas), o festival poderá recorrer a plataformas VoD (vídeo a pedido) para exibição parcial da sua programação, mediante autorização prévia dos realizadores ou produtores.
11. ALTERAÇÕES OU CANCELAMENTO
Em caso de cancelamento, adiamento ou alteração significativa do formato do festival por motivos de força maior (como desastres naturais, pandemias ou outras circunstâncias imprevistas), a organização informará rapidamente os participantes selecionados. As taxas de submissão não são reembolsáveis, mas a organização poderá oferecer benefícios alternativos, como exibição em edições futuras ou plataformas digitais, conforme acordo com os realizadores.
12. CASOS OMISSOS
Quaisquer casos omissos neste regulamento serão resolvidos pela Direção do Festival, com base nos princípios de transparência e equidade. Para esclarecimentos, contacte a organização através do e-mail festival@cinetejo.pt ou do site www.cinetejo.pt.
