Ado Hasanovic is a Bosnian-Italian film director based in Rome. Born in 1986 in Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina (formerly part of Yugoslavia), he served as the Artistic Director of the Srebrenica Short Film Festival, "Srebrena Traka" (2008-2011).
An alumnus of Berlinale Talents Sarajevo in 2008, Ado completed the Norwegian Nansen Academy with a focus on interethnic dialogue in 2010. He graduated from the Sarajevo Film Academy as a director in 2013 and furthered his education at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome, specializing as a director.
Since 2015, Ado has been the Artistic Director of the Mediterranean Short Film Festival "Passaggi d'Autore" in Sant'Antioco, Sardinia. In 2017, he completed a Master's in Dramaturgy as a guest student at the Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo.
His short films, including "The Angel of Srebrenica" (2010), "Blue Viking in Sarajevo" (2012), "Mama" (2013), "Breath of Life Srebrenica" (2015), "Pink Elephant" (2017), "Nomophobia" (2019), "Let There Be Colour" (2020), and "Searching for Justice" (2023), have received worldwide festival selections and won numerous international awards.
Ado is also the creator of "Cortovisioni - How to Make a Short Film," a workshop format where he imparts knowledge on creating a short film from the initial idea to post-production. He recently completed his debut documentary, "My Father's Diaries," produced by Palomar (Italy) & Mediawan (France).
