Our next live event begins on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th December 2018 at Close Up Film Centre, 97 Sclater Street, London E1 6HR.

We look forward to seeing you.

Women Of The Lens is a live Festival of Film, Broadcast and Digital programming. It was created to celebrate and highlight the achievements of black women and women of colour in the UK creative industries.

We will bring specifically British sources with an inclusion of wider international regions reflective of black women. This platform was created because the underrepresentation of black women and women of colour in the creative industries remains stubbornly low. We want to reveal the complexity, diversity and multiplicities of these women, which is ordinarily overlooked in the conventional media-sphere. We arrive because their stories are our stories, human stories with varied narratives - and as such, wider audiences beyond those of colour can truly engage with complex tales, which move beyond the common tropes reserved for these women in typical media representations.

At Women Of The Lens, we want to create a space, which attracts industry professionals and those who have vested interests outside of the industry that build reciprocal relationships that nurture and builds careers. We want to share knowledge which signposts opportunities and develops ideas.

Whilst our stories are by, of and for black women and women of colour, we sincerely welcome allied women - and men, who will support the ethos and spirit of Women Of The Lens through their own work. The Festival will be the primary platform for Women Of The Lens, but other spheres will contribute to a holistic experience as we progress in 2017 and beyond.

Thanks Oyetayo. We are planning for 2018's event to be equally so.

  • Cathie Sutton

Great communication from start to finish. Added bonus of being invited to a networking event hosted by BAFTA & Shooting People.

Cinema Museum was a wonderful (if a little cold) venue, full of nostalgia.

Our short film SCATTERED screened at Women of the Lens Festival and, while we weren't able to attend the festival, we were very impressed with the festival communication to filmmakers and the social media buzz created by the festival. We highly recommend Women of the Lens Festival.

A great festival. Jennifer and Laurelle were so welcoming and the films and dialogue surrounding the films were very informative.

Dear Le'Andra, your attendance added to the importance of industry collaboration which lay in the primary tenants of the Festival - that of supporting and nurturing filmmaking talent. We can't thank you enough for coming and we hope it's inspired you.
