Since our debut in November 2017, Women Of The Lens Film Festival CIC is a live, in-person festival of film programming. UK-based, it was created to celebrate and highlight the achievements of British Black women in the film industries. As well as British women, we are very proud to regularly welcome and screen productions from all over the world!

At Women Of The Lens, we want to create a space, which attracts industry professionals and those who have vested interests outside of the industry that build reciprocal relationships and nurtures and builds careers. We want to share knowledge which signposts opportunities and develops ideas.

Not just for industry, we bring films which are story-based so that any film lover can join us to engage in heartwarming narratives that stay with you long after you've left any of our events.

Whilst our stories are by, of and for Black women, we sincerely welcome all people who will support the ethos and spirit of Women Of The Lens through their own work.

Be sure to read submission details on our website prior to your submission: www.womenofthelens.com

Stay close to social media for immediate updates: Facebook/Instagram/Twitter/LinkedIn: @womenofthelens and you can sign up to our newsletter via our website!

As further commitment to industry, we celebrate talent through our Awards. Films that are programmed are judged by industry professionals, who of course love film!
Winners are recognised in a ceremony at the end of our Festival.

Selections are made in conjunction with our Jury panel.

All selected/programmed submissions are automatically entered to our Jury panel and will be in competition for our Awards

Feedback may be requested by individual productions. As we are a small operation, we cannot guarantee immediate responses and will endeavour to reply as soon as possible.

For all submissions not in the English language, we ideally require embedded English descriptive subtitles or otherwise standard subtitles.

We cannot accept a work-in-progress submission that is nearly completed - for example, where the final sound mix is not yet complete. We would need to see a fully completed version of the film by the final deadline date.

If your submission is selected, you will be required to provide a DCP of your film.

Thank you for your film Yety. A very worthy addition to our programming, which only elevated the quality of filmmakers we were able to engage with. We too look forward to what you do next! Very well done.

It’s hard to put into words what I experienced during the festival. From start to finish, I can only praise Jennifer, Laurelle, and the entire team for creating such a meaningful and enjoyable event. The Q&As were insightful and thoughtfully moderated, sparking important conversations. The venue and screening quality were excellent, and the communication and organisation were truly outstanding. Wishing the festival many more successful years to come.

This was my second time taking part in Women of the Lens, and it was another wonderful experience. The festival creates such a welcoming space for filmmakers, and I loved having the chance to meet other artists and see a range of inspiring independent work. It’s a celebration of talent, creativity, and community, and I’m grateful to have been included. Looking forward to returning again!

Dear Dean. Thank you for your input. We are very proud to have been able to work with you for all this time and we're inspired by your own growth. We look forward to working with you in the future and seeing what you do next!

  • I absolutely love this festival and have enormous thanks and gratitude to Jennifer and the team at Women of the Lens for continually to support and give a platform for these films to be seen to a proper audience. The festival this year was no different, there was a good crowd and it was such a joyous evening at The Rich Mix. Was also lovely to watch the other films on the bill; 'Lost and Found & Fifty Four Days' and meet with the directors Erica Miller and Cat White. This is what these festivals are about, watching, meeting and connecting. Thank you! Much love. Dxx
