Women Of The Lens is a live Festival of Film, Broadcast and Digital programming. It was created to celebrate and highlight the achievements of black women and women of colour in the UK creative industries.
We will bring specifically British sources with an inclusion of wider international regions reflective of black women. This platform was created because the underrepresentation of black women and women of colour in the creative industries remains stubbornly low. We want to reveal the complexity, diversity and multiplicities of these women, which is ordinarily overlooked in the conventional media-sphere. We arrive because their stories are our stories, human stories with varied narratives - and as such, wider audiences beyond those of colour can truly engage with complex tales, which move beyond the common tropes reserved for these women in typical media representations.
At Women Of The Lens, we want to create a space, which attracts industry professionals and those who have vested interests outside of the industry that build reciprocal relationships that nurture and builds careers. We want to share knowledge which signposts opportunities and develops ideas.
Whilst our stories are by, of and for black women and women of colour, we sincerely welcome allied women - and men, who will support the ethos and spirit of Women Of The Lens through their own work. The Festival will be the primary platform for Women Of The Lens, but other spheres will contribute to a holistic experience as the platform develops.

Response from festival:
It was a pleasure to programme your film The Sycamore Gap. It brought a unique creative element to the Festival. It is pleasing to know that you felt welcomed and it is an element the Festival will endeavour to maintain - however big it gets!
Very much look forward to seeing the progress of your promising career and working with you again in the future.
