Ahora en su segundo año, el Festival de Cine ¡Viva Cortos! ha sido creado por TVCortos para honrar y reconocer el trabajo excepcional de los cineastas de España y América Latina.

Nuestro objetivo es descubrir cortometrajes cinematográficos de alta calidad de estas regiones y proveer a tres de los seleccionados la oportunidad de calificar para el Oscar.

Durante nuestro festival inaugural el año pasado, calificamos 4 cortometrajes para consideración al Óscar con una proyección teatral de los ganadores en Los Ángeles. ¡Dos de nuestros ganadores, “Tula” y “Plastic Killer”, eventualmente avanzaron a los 15 cortometrajes de ficción (acción real), finalistas preseleccionados para los Premios de la Academia 2023 (Óscar)!

Los 15 mejores cortometrajes seleccionados este año se proyectarán en un festival exclusivo para televisión en los canales TVCortos, Cortos US y ShortsTV a nivel mundial.

Importante: Si tu cortometraje es seleccionado entre los Top 15, deberás firmar el ¡Viva Cortos! Acuerdo de licencia de exhibición el cual otorga derecho a Shorts International Limited, propietario de TVCortos y ShortsTV, a transmitir tu cortometraje como parte de la programación televisiva del festival. Estos derechos para FreeTV, PayTV y digital serán por tiempo limitado en los canales lineales y digitales de la compañía.

Los Top 3 se proyectarán en un cine de Los Ángeles o Nueva York durante una semana como un evento con audiencia para que sean elegibles para la consideración al Oscar. Se entregarán premios al Mejor Acción Real, Mejor Animación y Mejor Documental.

Los Mejores Cortos

Now in its second year ¡Viva Cortos! Festival de Cine was established by TVCortos to honor and recognise the exceptional work of short filmmakers from Spain and Latin America.

Our aim is to discover high-quality and cinematic short films from these regions and give a selected few the chance to become Oscar qualified.

During our inaugural festival last year, we qualified 4 short films for Oscar consideration with a winners theatrical screening in Los Angeles. Two of our winners, Tula and Plastic Killer, eventually progressed to the final 15 Oscar-shortlisted live-action short films for the 2023 Academy Awards!

The Top 15 short films selected will be screened as part of a TV festival on the TVCortos and ShortsTV channels globally.

Please note: If your film is selected in the Top 15 you will be required to sign the ¡Viva Cortos! Festival de Cine broadcast license agreement entitles Shorts International Limited, owner of the TVCortos and ShortsTV networks, to broadcast your film as part of the TV-only festival programming. These FreeTV, PayTV and digital exhibition festival rights will be for a limited period on the company’s linear and digital channels.

The top films will screen for one week in a Los Angeles or New York theatre as a ticketed event to make them eligible for Oscar consideration.

Awards will be given for Best Live Action, Best Animation and Best Documentary.

Rules & Terms

Para ser elegibles para participar en Festival de Cine ¡Viva Cortos! Festival de Cine las películas deben cumplir con lo siguiente:

● Las inscripciones se aceptan exclusivamente a través de filmfreeway.com/VivaCortosFilmFestival
● El Escritor, Director o Productor es de América Latina / España o tiene raíces relacionadas con América Latina / España.
● Los cortometrajes inscritos deben tener una fecha de finalización del 2021 o posterior.
● Los cortometrajes sometidos deben ser en el idioma español.
● La duración total del cortometraje no debe ser más de 40 minutos (incluyendo créditos).
● Múltiples presentaciones deben de proporcionarse como inscripciones individuales.
● El cineasta que inscribe el cortometraje debe ser el Productor o Director de la obra.
● El Productor / Director garantiza a Viva Cortos! Festival de Cine que han obtenido todos los permisos necesarios para someter esta película al festival y que la película no infringe los derechos, incluyendo los derechos de autor, de ningún tercero y que se han realizado todos los derechos y autorizaciones necesarias. Esto incluye el uso de música y material literario. Usted acepta tener plena responsabilidad legal por la propiedad intelectual de la película.
● Los cortometrajes sometidos deben enviarse según los requisitos de elegibilidad. Aquellos que violen los requisitos de elegibilidad serán rechazadas.
● Puede retirar su película en cualquier momento dado; sin embargo, las películas no pueden ser retiradas del festival después de haber sido seleccionadas oficialmente.
● Todas las películas en idioma regional que no sea el inglés deben incluir subtítulos en inglés.

■ Resolución de material en relación de aspecto de 1920 x 1080 píxeles cuadrados.
■ Velocidad de fotogramas nativa de la fuente original:
■ 24 o 25 fotogramas progresivos por segundo
■ 23,976 fotogramas progresivos para telecine inverso procedentes de películas
■ No se aceptarán materiales de telecine
■ La fuente HD puede entregarse matizado: buzón o caja de pilares.

En que formato fue rodada su película (FULLHD, 4K, 35mm, otros)

Una vez que se ha sometido la película, el productor garantiza que la presentación es un trabajo original y que no hay disputas de propiedad o derechos de autor con respecto al material. Que está autorizado a someter la película y afirma que su uso no viola ninguna ley o derecho de ninguna persona o entidad.

Entiende usted que si no cumple con los requerimientos de las normas y reglamentos Viva Cortos! Festival de Cine su inscripción será descalificada automáticamente. Si su cortometraje no tiene al menos un elenco clave, o un equipo creativo clave que sea de origen Hispano/Latino o Español su película será descalificada.

Al someter su cortometraje ¡Viva Cortos! Festival de Cine, usted acepta que Shorts TV / TV Cortos tiene el derecho de usar clips, imágenes y / o sonido de su película con fin de promoción en forma de medios impresos, radio, televisión e Internet, entre otros.

To be eligible for ¡Viva Cortos! Festival de Cine, films must comply with the following:

● Entries are accepted exclusively through filmfreeway.com/VivaCortosFilmFestival
● The Writer, Director or Producer is from Latin America/ Spain or has roots connected to Latin America/ Spain.
● The films submitted must have had a completion date of 2021 or later.
● The films submitted must be in the Spanish language and/or regional languages from Latin America/Spain
● The running total time of the film should be no more than 40 minutes (including credits).
● Multiple submissions must be provided as individual submissions.
● The submitting filmmaker must be either the Producer or Director of the film.
● The Producer / Director warrants to ¡Viva Cortos! Festival de Cine that they have obtained all the necessary permissions to enter this film and that the film does not infringe the rights, including copyright, of any third party and that all rights and clearances have been made. This includes use of music and literary material. You accept to hold full legal responsibility for the intellectual property herein.
● The film should be submitted as per the eligibility requirements. Films violating the eligibility requirements will be rejected.
● You may withdraw your film at any given point; however, films cannot be withdrawn from the festival after being officially selected.
● All films in a regional language other than Spanish must include Spanish subtitles.
● Any short film selected or not selected will be a decision of the ¡Viva Cortos! Festival de Cine selection panel which is final and accepted by all parties. If you are the Producer submitting the film, then you will be fully responsible to obtain a ‘no objection letter’ from whoever owns the rights of the short film.
● We reserve the right to update our terms and conditions.

** Tech Specs for High-Definition Source Profile
If the short film originally shot on film, please deliver one HD master file in the following format:
■ Apple ProRes 422 HQ or Uncompressed. (NOT ACCEPTED: Apple Pro Res H264).
■ VBR expected at ≥220 Mbps
■ 1920 x 1080 square pixel aspect ratio material. (Will not accept an SD source or an upscaled SD source)
■ Native frame rate of original source:
■ 24 or 25 progressive frames per second
■ 23.976 progressive frames for inverse telecine sourced from film
■ Telecine materials will not be accepted
■ HD source may be delivered matted: letterbox or pillar box.

Once the entry has been uploaded, the filmmaker guarantees that the submission is original work and that there are no ownership or copyright disputes regarding the entry. That you are authorised to submit the film and affirm that your submission does not violate any law or right of any person or entity.

You understand that failure to comply with the ¡Viva Cortos! Festival de Cine guidelines, means your entry will be automatically disqualified. Should your film not have at least one key cast or key creative crew who is of Latin American or Spanish origin, your film will be disqualified.

By submitting your film to the ¡Viva Cortos! Festival de Cine, you agree that Shorts TV/TV Cortos has the right to use clips, images, and/or sound from your film for promotional purposes in the form of, but not limited to, print, radio, television, and Internet media.
