Villammare Festival Film&Friends, organized by the Villammare Film Festival - Gulf of Policastro Association with the collaboration of The Campania Region, the Municipality of Vibonati and the support of 105 TV, takes place in the picturesque seaside village of Villammare, in the province of Salerno, at the end of the summer. Born as a simple competition between short films, it added the competition among feature films, becoming a worth cinematographic film event able to showcase new talents, investigate current issues and problems in the sector, and promote films and directors that are valid but difficult to distribute, with an eye on early works and previews.
Over the years there have been many characters from the world of cinema and culture who took turns on the stage of the Villammare Festival, offering many intellectual ideas and thus contributing to the growth of the event. Just to name a few: Lina Wertmüller, David Warren, Giancarlo Giannini, Giorgio Arlorio, Citto Maselli, Michele Placido, Giulio Scarpati, Lina Sastri, Cristina Donadio, Renato Carpentieri, Enrico Lo Verso, Gigliola Scola, Serena Autieri, Anna Pavignano, Daniela Poggi, Teresa De Sio, Lello Arena, Maurizio Casagrande, Francesco Paolantoni, Enrico Vanzina, Sergio Rubini, Stefano Fresi, Ornella Muti …
Villlammare Festival can count on a wide selection of international films.
Villammare Festival has always been attentive to all the facets of the cinema and takes into particular consideration the role of the soundtracks to which one of the scheduled evenings is dedicated. So great musicians such as Luis Bacalov, Nicola Piovani, Gerardo Di Lella and his big band, Stefano Mainetti, Manuel De Sica, Stelvio Cipriani, Vince Tempera ... have come to this event.
The Villammare Festival is an all-round cultural event.

.Maximum attention is required when evaluating the relevance of your short film to the chosen category.

Films in the original foreign language must already have Italian subtitles printed on the film.

Rules & Terms

For Short Films:

1. Admission Requirements
a) For the 2026 Edition these are the sections provided:
- Category "Free Theme"
- Category “Pietro De Luca”Special Award , dedicated to Love in all its forms
- Category “Bcc Monte Pruno” Special Award (2000 eu) dedicated to short films shot in Cilento, Vallo di Diano e Alburni;
- Category "Green Short film -Ecological and Environmental Themes" (Trophy) destinated to short films with environmental and ecological themes;
- Category “A short for the Rotary- End Polio Now” Special Award (the call is still being defined) fort short films with social themes inspired by Rotary's actions.
- Category "Artificial Short Films" for short films created with AI
- Category "Film&Reel", cinema-themed reels lasting up to 1 minute and made by people between the ages of 16 and 30.
b) For all the categories are admitted fiction, animation and any other kind of short film;
c) Short films of all the sections must not have a duration higher than 15 minutes;
d) To participate in the selections, a payment of 10 euros is required for each short film entered (except for the category “Pietro De Luca Special Award”,“Bcc Monte Pruno Award”, "Film&Reel" and “A Short for the Rotary”).
e) Each author can submit to the competition even more than one work and can participate in all the categories;
f)Maximum attention is therefore required when evaluating the relevance of your short film to the chosen category;
h) The partners of the Villammare Festival who award the various special prizes, in the event that no short films considered relevant to the themes and characteristics of their category are received, reserve the right to evaluate whether or not to award the prize to other short films, entered in the competition, that will have dealt with similar topics;
i) Short films in the original foreign language must already have Italian subtitles printed on the film;
l) Being a competition originally born on TV, preference will be given to short films that can be broadcast on the television partner 105 TV at least in the days from 25 to 30 August, as per the release which will then be sent to the selected candidates;

For the Feature Films:

1.Admission Requirements
Are allowed to the contest, Italian and foreign films:
a) Works distributed from August 2025 to July 2026;
b) Movies in preview and upcoming distribution works;
c) Unpublished works, without a time limit;
d) Works of cultural and documentary interest, of social commitment and socio-
anthropological films, environmental films.
For films in foreign language are required Italian subtitles.
Participation is free. Each author may submit one or more works to the competition.
The films should not have been selected or rewarded at the previous editions of the
Villammare Festival.

2. Assigned Prizes
During the current edition, compatibly with the works received, will be awarded the following prizes:
a) Best Film
b) Best Director
c) Best First Film
d) Best Actor and Best Actress
e) In consideration of the attention that the Villammare Festival has always attributed to the world of soundtracks, special prizes will be awarded relating to the musical aspect of the films;
f) Since 2019, the Villammare Festival Film & Friends has established the "Giorgio Arlorio" Special Award, dedicated to the late screenwriter, a great friend of the VFF & F. It will be assigned to the best screenplay of the films in competition.
5g) In addition, there may be further awards or special mentions made by the Festival's jury or by the technical organization of the Festival.

    How can we not love a festival called "Villammare" (Vill..love)? I would like to thank the organisers for selecting my two short films "Telefono Grigio - Grey Telephone" and "Le Aspirazioni di Aria(nna) - Claire's Aspirations". The festival has an impressive 24-year history and is located in a beautiful setting.
