Villammare Festival Film&Friends, organized by the Villammare Film Festival - Gulf of Policastro Association with the collaboration of the Municipality of Vibonati and the support of 105 TV, takes place in the picturesque seaside village of Villammare, in the province of Salerno, at the end of the summer. Born as a simple competition between short films, it added the competition among feature films, becoming a worth cinematographic film event able to showcase new talents, investigate current issues and problems in the sector, and promote films and directors that are valid but difficult to distribute, with an eye on early works and previews.
Over the years there have been many characters from the world of cinema and culture who took turns on the stage of the Villammare Festival, offering many intellectual ideas and thus contributing to the growth of the event. Just to name a few: Lina Wertmüller, Giorgio Arlorio, Citto Maselli, Michele Placido, Giancarlo Giannini, Giulio Scarpati, Cristina Donadio, Vittorio Giacci, Renato Carpentieri, Enrico Lo Verso,Gigliola Scola, Serena Autieri, Anna Pavignano, Daniela Poggi, Teresa De Sio, Lello Arena, Maurizio Casagrande, Francesco Paolantoni …
Villlammare Festival can count on a wide selection of international films, also coming from countries with lesser known cinemas, such as Taiwan, Syria, Iran, Turkey, Estonia, Sweden ... Several of those presented at the Festival have obtained national and international awards or their directors were rewarded.
Villammare Festival has always been attentive to all the facets of the cinema and takes into particular consideration the role of the soundtracks to which one of the scheduled evenings is dedicated. So great musicians such as Luis Bacalov, Nicola Piovani, Gerardo Di Lella and his big band, Stefano Mainetti, Manuel De Sica, Stelvio Cipriani, Vince Tempera ... have come to this event.
The Villammare Festival is an all-round cultural event.

The Villammare Festival assigns various prizes of symbolic value. These are trophies made by the master ceramist Mauro Donegà. In addition to the winners in the competition between shorts and between features, the best environmental thematic short is awarded by Legambiente, while the jury of the feature films also assigns the "Giorgio Arlorio" award to the best screenplay and that to the best soundtrack. Then there is a special prize, this one in cash, awarded by the Rotary E-club Film&Friends to the best short and feature film on social issues or specifically concerning Rotary, its battles, its values, its lines of action. The prize for Rotary short film is 1000 Euros.
