The Vesuvio International Movie Award (VIMA) is a prestigious annual film festival featuring live screenings.

After 39 online editions — organized monthly during the pandemic to collect and celebrate films from around the world, keeping cinema alive and accessible — the festival evolved in 2022 into an annual live event, strengthening its presence in the international film community.

Today, we are proud to celebrate our 43rd edition (39 + 4!), and we are delighted to welcome filmmakers, artists, and cinema lovers from all over the world.

Formerly known as the Vesuvius International Film Award, the festival now embraces a renewed identity and energy under the artistic direction of Lucia Aiello, continuing its mission to honor creativity, emotion, and the universal power of cinematic storytelling.

The Vesuvio International Movie Award offers filmmakers an exceptional opportunity to participate in an international competition and showcase their work to a global audience.
Only Finalists will be screened during the festival.

Our mission is to highlight fresh, original voices from around the world and introduce them to an international audience — celebrating diversity, creativity, and the transformative power of film.

Festival Structure

Film Selection: All submitted works are carefully reviewed by our selection committee.
Official Selection: Chosen films receive the Official Selection status.
Jury Awards: An international jury selects the winners from among the finalists.

Il Vesuvio International Movie Award (VIMA) è un prestigioso festival cinematografico annuale con proiezioni dal vivo.

Dopo 39 edizioni online — organizzate mensilmente durante il periodo della pandemia per raccogliere il meglio del cinema mondiale e mantenerne viva la fruizione — dal 2022 il festival è diventato una struttura annuale con presentazioni dal vivo, rafforzando il proprio ruolo nel panorama internazionale.

Oggi, con grande entusiasmo, celebriamo la nostra 43ª edizione (39 + 4!) e siamo felici di accogliere registi, artisti e appassionati di cinema da ogni parte del mondo.

Il festival, che in passato era conosciuto come Vesuvius International Film Award, assume oggi una nuova identità e una nuova energia sotto la direzione artistica di Lucia Aiello, continuando a valorizzare la creatività, l’emozione e la forza universale del linguaggio cinematografico.

Il Vesuvio International Movie Award offre ai cineasti un’opportunità unica di partecipare a una competizione internazionale e di presentare le proprie opere a un pubblico globale.
Solo i Finalisti verranno proiettati durante il festival.

Struttura del Festival

Selezione dei film: Tutte le opere inviate vengono accuratamente visionate dal nostro comitato di selezione.
Selezione Ufficiale: I film scelti ricevono lo status di Official Selection.
Premi della Giuria: Una giuria internazionale seleziona i vincitori tra i finalisti.

Rules & Terms

We are driven by a deep passion for cinema and believe in supporting and celebrating it in all its forms.

Entry fees are non-refundable and non-waivable. Each contribution helps sustain the selection process and the realization of the festival.

Filmmakers may submit multiple works. However, each film must be accompanied by a separate entry form and the corresponding entry fee.

The decision of the selection committee is final and represents the festival’s conclusive judgment.

The organizers of the Vesuvio International Movie Award (VIMA) reserve the right to modify, cancel, or reschedule dates, venues, awards, or categories when necessary, without prior notice.

The festival also reserves the right not to assign one or more awards if no entries are deemed deserving within a given category.

Siamo animati da una profonda passione per il cinema e crediamo nel valore di sostenerlo e celebrarlo in tutte le sue forme.

Le quote di partecipazione non prevedono esenzioni o rimborsi. Ogni contributo d’iscrizione sostiene il lavoro di selezione e la realizzazione del festival.

I registi possono presentare più opere. Ogni film, tuttavia, deve essere accompagnato da una scheda di iscrizione separata e dalla relativa quota di partecipazione.

La decisione del comitato di selezione è insindacabile e rappresenta il giudizio finale del festival.

Gli organizzatori del Vesuvio International Movie Award (VIMA) si riservano il diritto di modificare, annullare o riprogrammare date, sedi, premi o categorie, qualora necessario, senza obbligo di preavviso.

Il festival si riserva inoltre il diritto di non assegnare uno o più premi, qualora non vengano riscontrate opere meritevoli in una determinata categoria.
