Welcome to Venice Shorts Film Awards. Venice was known as the epicenter of Hollywood. If a movie scene looks familiar, most likely it was shot at the famous Venice Beach boardwalk or historical neighborhood of ‘Venice Canals’.
“Venice Beach’s birth in 1905 couldn’t come at a better time for Hollywood. Abbot Kinney’s “Fantasy By The Sea”, was just starting out when the brand-new movie industry came to California for its year-round sun. For the next hundred years, Hollywood’s love affair with Venice would bring entertainment to millions all over the world.”
—Edward Thomas Company

We encourage filmmakers from all backgrounds, as we aim to award a diverse group of filmmakers. All projects of all genres are welcome. Our festival aims to provide an international platform for independent filmmakers from all over the world. Venice Shorts is both an annual and a monthly short film festival. Our festival selects and awards US and International short films. We want to recognize both US and International films; therefore, the US and the International sections are separate with its own categories to be awarded.

Our monthly festival is an IMDB qualifier international online film festival. All monthly film winners are automatically entered in the yearly competition. We aim to support, promote, feature, screen and recognize filmmakers and their projects in our monthly and annual festival. All winning projects are individually posted on our social media platforms.

The annual event takes place in Venice, California and we will be showcasing short films from all over the world. Venice Shorts also has partnered with screening platforms to screen and distribute films to a greater international audience. All winners will receive a certificate, upon request (pdf). All official selections can be screened.
