The Pinnacle Film Festival showcases original storytelling through its theme, “Stories from the Edge,” highlighting films that offer fresh perspectives, unexpected voices, and distinctive points of view.

Selected films are presented in curated screenings followed by live Q&A sessions, creating space for direct conversation between filmmakers and audiences. The festival is fully hosted by an emcee, ensuring a smooth, engaging, and professional experience throughout the event.

The evening concludes with a filmmaker after party featuring live music, offering a relaxed environment to celebrate and connect.

All selected filmmakers will receive:

Official Pinnacle Film Festival laurels
Certificates of participation
Social media promotion of official selections
Inclusion in a festival program with film and filmmaker information
Red carpet and photo backdrop opportunities
Press and media coverage
Participation in a filmmaker panel discussion

For those traveling from out of the area, the festival offers a unique destination experience. Located in South Monterey County — often described as stepping back in time — the region reflects the landscapes of Steinbeck Country and sits in the shadow of Pinnacles National Park, the inspiration behind the festival’s name.

All selected filmmakers will receive an official festival laurel and a Founders Selection Certificate honoring their work and their role in helping shape the identity and vision of our inaugural festival.

Festival laurel awards and distinctions include Best documentary, Best student film, Best first-time filmmaker, Most unexpected film, and Bold Storytelling, as well as additional special recognitions.

Independent and feature-length films are welcome alongside student, documentary, narrative, experimental, and short-form works from emerging and established filmmakers.

We are committed to a timely and thoughtful review process. While all submitters will be notified of their status no later than August 17, submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis, and filmmakers may receive notification earlier as selections are finalized
