With the support of the nonprofit organization Puffin Foundation, Ltd., a small group of dedicated volunteers set out, more than 20 years ago, to create an event that would present a collection of compelling and imaginative feature-length films, documentaries, and shorts from a variety of cultures that would lead audiences to question, debate, and become caring and involved citizens who recognize the need to institute positive change. Teaneck International Film Festival has found its niche on the film festival circuit, and, having been dubbed by the New Jersey Star-Ledger, “the film festival with a social conscience,” is growing in reputation as well as numbers. TIFF is one of the leading social justice film festivals in the nation and one of the largest in the state of New Jersey. We are located three miles west of Manhattan. Previous attendees include Oscar Winner Jodie Foster, Emmy Winner Sheryl Lee Ralph, Four-Time Emmy Winner Anne Meara, Jerry Stiller, Golden Globe Winner S. Epatha Merkerson, Sonia Sanchez, Tony Winner Philip Bosco, Faith Ringgold and so many other notable actors, activists, artists, filmmakers, producers, and writers.

Presently, the Teaneck International Film Festival draws over 3,000 filmgoers each year. Films and talkbacks illustrate what TIFF is about – making untouchable topics part of everyday conversation by addressing racism, oppression, the environment, the LGBTQ community, women’s concerns, immigration -- stories of the little guy whose story is not often heard. With the theme, Activism: Making Change, the festival is an excellent starting point for fostering appreciation of differences, understanding all that we share, and encouraging efforts to help make the world a better place.

Teaneck is a beautiful, big-hearted festival with amazing films and audiences, and a rockstar/magician festival director (thank you, Jeremy Lentz!) who went above and beyond to give our visiting team, and our feature film ULTIMATE CITIZENS, an exciting and meaningful platform in their education program. ULTIMATE CITIZENS screened at Teaneck High School and Fairleigh Dickinson University, and we loved meeting and learning from students and faculty. We're grateful for the festival's generous hospitality and all the logistical wrangling that we know goes with film tours in educational settings. We had a great time (Teaneck is a sweet and storied place), and it was an honor!

Great Festival! I felt well supported and was thrilled to have my feature doc show at an over-sold event. This festival is going to continue to grow and become more important to this tri-state area.
