The Sydney Underground Film Festival is an annual event that is either held in person at The Factory Theatre in Sydney or runs virtually via Eventive. SUFF screens a wonderful array of freaky, fantastic and not for the faint-of-heart films.

2021 marks the festival's 15th edition.

Beyond the line-up of films, SUFF also presents the Inhuman Screens Academic Conference, Take48 Film Challenge, and filmmaking workshops, talks and Q&As.

Open to filmmakers from Australia and around the world, the festival provides a platform for exhibition, exposure and critical discussion.

The SUFF "Dead Oscar" hand-crafted by Sydney glass artist, Mark Wotherspoon and various other prizes thank you to our sponsors.

Had the pleasure of premiering my short, COIL, at SUFF this year. Due to COVID, the festival was held virtually, but I was still able to watch all the other amazing, strange and scary shorts from the comfort of my living room and without any technical issues. Nathan was very responsive and communication was great leading up to the festival. Although this was my first experience with SUFF, I feel the spirit of the festival was still very much there in virtual form. Thank you again for having us as a part of your festival!

  • SUFF is an amazing festival to attend -- so fun, open and convivial! The program of shorts we were included in was a blast, playing to a packed intimate audience. Their taste in features is also excellent. There wasn't a massive amount of communication before the fest, but they treated me and the other filmmakers beautifully once we were there. Highly recommended!!!
