Shorts On Tap: London's Leading Short Film Platform
For over a decade, Shorts On Tap has been at the forefront of the independent short film scene, screening hundreds of films and documentaries to sold-out audiences across London. More than just a festival, Shorts On Tap is an inclusive community that fosters creativity, dialogue, and collaboration among filmmakers and audiences alike. Expanding beyond the UK, we now host regular events in Berlin and Tokyo, bringing our vibrant platform to a global audience.

We are dedicated to showcasing diverse storytelling through our unique themed events and series, which have captivated thousands of film enthusiasts and industry professionals. Our events provide a dynamic platform for emerging and established filmmakers to present their work, exchange ideas, and engage with audiences in an accessible and inclusive environment.
A Platform for Collaboration and Innovation
Our partners include leading organizations such as Samsung, the BFI, Raindance Film Festival, Sony, Kickstarter, and Shooting People. We also collaborate with prestigious film schools, including the London Film Academy and Central Film School London, to nurture the next generation of filmmakers.
In 2018, our Horizon screenwriting competition—sponsored by Sony and supported by BFI Future Film—awarded a £3,000 grant and a Sony α7S Mark II camera to the winning script 'Montana' by Laura Plancarte, helping to bring a new vision to life.
Iconic Venues, Unforgettable Experiences
Shorts On Tap regularly hosts screenings at some of London's most iconic venues, such as BFI Southbank, Regent Street Cinema, Rich Mix, and Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square. We are also deeply rooted in East London's creative hubs, with frequent events in Brick Lane and Shoreditch.
In Venice, Shorts On Tap hosts screenings at the outdoor cinema in Campo San Polo—one of the most beautiful squares in Venice—through collaboration with the local government and the mayor of Venice.
Our events cover a wide range of genres, from narrative fiction to experimental films, documentaries, animation, and music videos. We aim to create an eclectic, engaging experience where filmmakers and audiences can connect in a relaxed, interactive setting.
A Commitment to Social Impact
Beyond entertainment, Shorts On Tap is committed to using film as a tool for social awareness. We have collaborated with non-profits and charities, including Galop (LGBT anti-violence group) and MedAct (providing medical care in war zones). Notable initiatives include fundraising for Wonderkid, a film addressing homophobia in professional football, and hosting the premiere of Credence, an LGBTQ+ sci-fi film at the Prince Charles Cinema.
Our Women in Revolt series, launched in 2015 and supported by the Film London Boost Award, has become one of the most popular platforms for female filmmakers in London. This bi-monthly event celebrates womanhood through powerful storytelling and thought-provoking discussions.
Going Global
Shorts On Tap expanded internationally in 2015 with the sold-out London Calling screening in Tokyo's Shibuya district, followed by our first Berlin event on International Women’s Day 2016 at Z-inema Berlin. Our global reach continues to grow, offering filmmakers new opportunities to share their work beyond borders.
Production
Founded by filmmakers Filippo Polesel and Michele Fiascaris, Shorts On Tap is not only a platform for screening films but also a fully-fledged production house through its sister company, Yellow Pill Films. We are committed to empowering filmmakers by providing the resources and support needed to bring their creative visions to life.
Our critically acclaimed short film RAIN CATCHER, co-produced with Yellow Pill Films, has received widespread recognition, winning the prestigious Silver Melies after being selected and awarded at multiple Oscar-qualifying and BAFTA-qualifying festivals. The film was acquired by HBO and is now available on Disney+ across the UK and Europe. Building on this success, we have expanded our efforts into feature filmmaking, with a RAIN CATCHER feature currently in post-production.
In 2022, Shorts On Tap and Yellow Pill Films undertook an ambitious international project—PRIME TIME, a mini-series of six short films commissioned by smartphone giant Xiaomi. This large-scale production spanned the UK, four European countries, and Thailand, engaging local screenwriters and production crews. The series was a resounding success, amassing over 3 million views on YouTube and further solidifying our expertise in global short filmmaking. The six short films in the series include:
Maya's Moment (UK)
Tierra Nueva (Spain)
Cinema Aurora (Italy)
Wonderboys (Poland)
Knocking (Germany)
The Warrior (Thailand)
With a track record of delivering high-quality content across diverse genres and formats, Shorts On Tap continues to push the boundaries of independent filmmaking, championing emerging voices and innovative storytelling.
