Overall Rating
  • After being notified about our Official selection, I sent the required film file and never had any other reply, update or information concerning schedules, screenings, attendance, awards, etc. Quite dissapointing.

    Response from festival:

not sure where the communication broke down - but we for sure sent you updates as we drew closer to our screening dates.

we have now selected / played 2 of your shorts to much fanfare, including when we were forced to bring the festival outdoors during the pandemic.

I apologize if there was a missed message somewhere along the lines but I assure you we had sent information your way, as with all the filmmakers who participated in 2021/2022.

My second time participating in Shock Stock with my film "The Bloody Baxters" and I can honestly say this is the event I look forward to the most. Great opportunities to engage with fans and other industry creators and a really fun vibe.

    Response from festival:

Can't wait for another year Mark - thanks !

Our film was never scheduled to play despite acceptance, I followed up with multiple polite emails to see what was going on and just never heard from them again. Last email I ever received was a group email to everyone saying stay tuned for schedules and info about the online awards. Nothing since then. Bummer, because it seems like a cool fest.

    Response from festival:

I'm truly sorry for this - we've let you, and others down. I promise it was not intentional.

In fact, the whole year was a let down to our fans, our guests, our vendors, and ourselves. We struggled to irk out a few screenings when we had the opportunity, but the opportunities stopped and up here in Canada we're unfortunately back in lock down.

We won't be opening submissions for another festival until our current film selections are screened. We will be reaching out to discuss options.

Converting the event to a series of drive-in experiences in the era of COVID was simply brilliant, and I could not have asked for a better film pairing than I was given! These folks roll with the punches, and know how to program.

Thanks for the kind words ! We wanted to do more but it hasn't been the year for live screenings.
