Welcome to TOKYO TANPEN fest. (formerly Shibuya Sasebo Tanpen Film Festival)!

This film festival will be held in three locations: [First Select] in Nakano Ward, Tokyo; [Climax Stage] in multiple locations throughout Japan; and [Platinum Final] in Sasebo, Nagasaki.

◼️TTF's Guiding Principles: Adult Entertainment Videos We Want to Recommend to Children
"The short films we screen at TOKYO TANPEN fest. (TTF) are different from paid theatrical releases, and they're also different from typical short films! They are adult entertainment videos that we want to recommend to children!" After nine years of history, we arrived at this guiding principle and decided to call these "adult entertainment videos that we want to recommend to children" "TANPEN." We are striving to cultivate the name "TANPEN" and this wonderful culture, which originates from TTF in Japan, into a global standard, just like "SUSHI," "MANGA," and "KARAOKE."

◼️The Birth of TOKYO TANPEN fest.: Evolution and Leap Forward
In 2017, I, Makoto Shiki, originally from Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture, and living in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo, initiated the international short film festival "Shibuya TANPEN Film Festival climax at Sasebo," which was launched with the support of many collaborators, using these two cities as its stage. Thanks to everyone's support, it celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2026. Through this activity, we have built a network of over 3,000 film creators from more than 90 countries and regions. This is undoubtedly a treasure for us at TTF.

Many of them are university students studying film and art, as well as professional and amateur filmmakers. We have also received the wonderful news that some of those who were students in the early days have become professionals or university professors.

Then, in 2026, marking the 10th anniversary, I, Makoto Shiki, the founder of this project and currently residing in Nakano Ward, Tokyo, will once again evolve this film festival together with like-minded people in Japan and film creators around the world, challenging ourselves to make a leap forward.

- Purpose: Adding "Creator Support" to "Human Resource Development, Regional Revitalization, and Disaster Prevention"

◼️ To children around the world! And to their guardians!
Around the end of 2025-2026, Australia and Spain banned the use of social media by those under 16. There are also news reports that Indonesia, Denmark, Japan, and others are considering similar restrictions (as of May 7, 2026). We at TTF also want to protect promising children from harmful internet information! Leaving regulations to the governments of each country, we at TTF aim to introduce as many "TANPEN" works as possible from around the world that families can enjoy safely, so that harmful online information becomes less noticeable. We want to spread awareness of "TANPEN" not only to children but also to their parents.

We will continue our activities with the help of over 3,000 creators from over 90 countries and regions whom we have met over the nine-year history of the international short film festival, "Shibuya TANPEN Film Festival climax at Sasebo."

We at TTF aim to discover and nurture film directors and actors who will be active on the world stage.

We at TTF are seeking films, web series, and music videos of all themes and genres. In particular, we are looking for "adult entertainment videos that we would recommend to children."
