RISFF is a screenwriting and short film festival where we celebrate storytelling and the people who create the stories. The festival is run by multi award-winning screenwriters and filmmakers who are constantly writing, producing and shooting. Their own films have screened and won awards at international film festivals such as Rhode Island and Newport Beach. They live, breathe and eat scripts and films.

A physical festival, RISFF is hosted within the 1960s architecture of Duke Street Church, with its recently renovated auditorium space, in the heart of the beautiful London Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames. The venue is just a five minute walk from the station and close neighbours to the stunning and iconic Richmond Theatre.

Run in association with multi award-winning production company Nine Yards Films.

This year the festival will take place on SATURDAY 14th NOVEMBER 2026, including curated SCREENINGS of our short film Official Selections.

There are breaks between blocks for networking in The Lounge Bar, with tea and coffee, soft and alcoholic drinks served throughout the day, plus bar snacks and freshly-cooked pizza.
The festival will culminate in our AWARDS CEREMONY. We announce the Winners and Runners-Up in each category and present the RISFF trophies and certificates for each category. The bar remains open until the end of the festival, so there's time for more celebrating and networking.

Whether your work is bijou, epic, bittersweet, dark, horrific, hilarious, bizarre, uplifting or heart-stopping - whatever the vibe, whatever the genre, we can't wait to immerse ourselves in your stories.

Massive thank you to Vanessa and the rest of the team at the Richmond International Screenwriting and Film Festival for programming A SISYPHEAN TASK this year.

The whole festival was a delight from start to finish. The other films on the programmes were great, there were lots of moments throughout the day to say hello to fellow filmmakers ect and the awards’ evening was a lot of fun!

We all just had a lovely day, so thank you.

    Couldn’t recommend it enough!

  • We felt so honoured to take part in this fantastic Film Festival. Brilliant organisation and communication was top-notch. Venue was excellent, with great facilities, although needs some sort of acoustic baffles to tame reverberating sound in the huge hall! (e.g: https://www.muffle.co.uk/collections/acoustic-baffles). Vanessa and Team have done an amazing job - keep up the good work!
