The Plaza Classic Film Festival, the world's largest classic film festival, celebrates its 15th year July 28-August 7, 2022 in and around the historic Plaza Theatre in El Paso, TX.
Produced by the El Paso Community Foundation, it features between 90 and 100 films over 11 days, film lectures, special guests, private receptions and more. Previous guests include Al Pacino, Debbie Reynolds, Sam Elliott, Katharine Ross, Peter Bogdanovich, Shirley Jones, Cindy Williams, and Robert Wagner. Special guests for 2022 include Germaine Franco, F. Murray Abraham, and Rita Moreno
Though it is a classic film festival, it also includes a showcase for local and locally connected films, called Local Flavor (plazaclassic.com/localflavor) and this year introduces the first Plaza Classic Film Festival Screenwriting Competition, which has no local requirements (plazaclassic.com/screenwriting).
Founders of the Hollywood production and finance company Impossible Dream Entertainment will read the winning script, listen to a pitch from the winning screenwriter, and consult the winner on the screenplay’s prospects.
This is in addition to the $500 first prize, plus a Final Draft 12 package, and a table read of the winning entry during the El Paso Community Foundation’s 15th annual Plaza Classic Film Festival, which runs July 28-August 7.
Impossible Dream Entertainment was founded in 2017 by husband-and-wife producer team Shaun Redick and actress Yvette Yates Redick, who grew up in El Paso and Ciudad Juarez.
Shaun Redick is a former literary and packaging agent at iconic top global talent agencies, WME and ICM, and now a feature film and series Producer.
