The Persian Film Awards—a proud flagship initiative of the Persian Awards® Group—is a dual-structured international cinema event featuring a Live Film Festival alongside our prestigious Academy Awards.

Now entering its third year, this annual celebration honors outstanding cinematic works made by Persian filmmakers, focused on Persian themes, or featuring Persian creatives as part of the production team. The event serves as a premier global platform for independent voices and emerging talents, offering distinction across two specialized tracks:

The Festival Program: Highlights the finest international Short Films, Animations, and Documentaries through live public screenings and competitive festival awards.

The Academy Program: Operates as a peer-voted academy process dedicated exclusively to Feature Films, celebrating the highest achievements in full-length cinema separate from the seasonal festival track.

In addition to our core screening and academy programs, the Persian Film Awards is proud to host an active Film Market, Film Exhibitions, as well as Industry Conferences and Panels that bring together artists, producers, and audiences to exchange ideas, inspire collaboration, and celebrate creative achievements.

From thought-provoking narratives to powerful visuals, this event is a unique meeting point for Persian cultural expression through the cinematic arts. Join us in spotlighting the filmmakers shaping the future of Persian storytelling.

Academy & Festival Eligibility Guidelines
To maintain our mission of uplifting Persian heritage and artistry, our competitive award categories are exclusively reserved for projects that meet at least one of the following qualifications:

Persian/Iranian Filmmakers: The project is directed or produced by filmmakers of Persian heritage (including, but not limited to, Iranian, Afghan, Tajik, and Kurdish creators).

Co-Productions & Partnerships: The film was produced in, or in official partnership with, a Persian/Iranian country or region.

Persian Crew & Creatives: The film features Persian creatives, key crew members, or talent in a significant production role, even if the director is not Persian.

Persian Themes & Subjects: The film’s narrative, documentary subject, or core theme centers directly on Persian culture, history, or communities, regardless of the filmmaker's background.

International Guest Showcase: Submissions that do not meet the above criteria are still welcome! If selected, they will be displayed as part of our special Guest Screening program. Please note that guest projects are for exhibition purposes only and are not eligible for official Academy or Festival Awards.

Winners of the Persian Film Awards will receive the prestigious Persian Awards Medal, uniquely designed each year to symbolize artistic excellence, creative vision, and cultural contribution.

Festival Prizes: Awarded strictly to outstanding projects within the Short Film, Animation, and Documentary categories based on festival jury selection.

Academy Awards: Feature films do not compete for festival prizes; instead, they are entered into the formal Academy Awards track, where peer-voted accolades are presented for cinematic brilliance in full-length feature filmmaking.

In addition to the official medals, selected winners may receive special prizes, development opportunities, and distinct recognitions courtesy of our sponsors, industry partners, and academic organizations. Winning a Persian Film Award represents valuable industry recognition from respected global institutions supporting the contemporary arts.

CRITERIA, STYLE & STRUCTURE
There are no rigid thematic or genre restrictions. Every project is juried by our academy panel and will be exhibited or reviewed within its designated film category.

The Festival seeks inventive, incisive, bold, vital, and provocative works of any style, medium, or genre.

PRIZE ELIGIBILITY SEPARATION:

Official Festival Prizes are strictly reserved for Short Films, Animations, and Documentaries.

Feature Films are evaluated entirely separately through the Academy Awards track and are not eligible for standard festival-level prize categories.

SUBMISSION ELIGIBILITY
Official Competition: To enter the competitive Academy or Festival categories, the film must satisfy at least one of our core eligibility requirements (Persian filmmaker, Persian co-production, Persian crew, or Persian theme/subject matter).

Guest Exhibition: Submissions not meeting these requirements will be evaluated strictly for non-competitive Guest Showcases.

ENTRY FORMATS & DEADLINES
Exhibition Formats: Accepted formats for exhibition or academy review include Digital H.264 files (with a Blu-ray back-up if requested). Depending on venue technical specs, a ProRes file may be requested.

Submission Method: Entries must be submitted as online screeners via FilmFreeway. Secure, password-protected Vimeo links are highly welcome. Please note: We do not accept DCP files.

GENERAL AGREEMENTS & PROGRAMMING
Submission of a work confirms that the Persian Awards Group® (Persian Film Awards - PFA) has explicit permission to exhibit or review the project during the main event cycle and any subsequent official Festival Tours.

However, neither the organizers, employees, sponsors, nor participating organizations can assume responsibility for the damage or loss of submitted materials. All films scheduled for presentation at PFA will be previewed prior to screening or academy evaluation with their physical/digital condition logged. Response from festival:
