Born in 1970 in Tehran, Iran, Sasan Golfar got BA degrees in Civil Engineering (Polytechnic Tehran) and Drama Acting (Azad University, Tehran) and studied Cultural Studies courses for MA (Allameh Tabatabaei, Tehran). He also studied filmmaking courses in Youth Cinema Society of Iran and served as actor, director assistant and editor in a number of 35 mm, 16 mm and video short films produced by the Youth Cinema Society. He won a stage acting award in Fajr Student Theater Festival in 2004 and acted some roles in Iranian TV Series in 2005. As a writer and translator, he published 14 books of novels, short stories and plays until 2022 and 9 other books to be published in 2024. He is also a journalist and was the editor of International Cinema in a number of major Iranian newspapers such as Shargh, E'temad and Kargozaran and Tajrobe monthly magazine. Also He's a film critic and a member of critics Center (Kanoon Montagedan) of Iranian Khane-ye Cinema.
As a director, producer, writer, cinematographer and editor, he made "The Dream of Being Free", "Andante Innicentemente", "Remember Its Flight", "Sisyphus Childhood", "Call of the Wild" in 2023 and "Barbed Wire" and "Cold Genius Rises" in 2024, won 11 International awards, 4 honorable mentions for these films. His 7 films, produced in 2023-2024, were participated in 83 events in 42 festivals and awards in 18 countries during the 2023-2024 period. Sasan Golfar also won 7 awards for his story/screenplay "Hapless revenge" –this screenplay and short film project based on a story by himself produced in Rancho Cucamonga, California in June 2024 and won won more than 120 awards umtil September 2025.
