Ocean Films Húsavík took place for the first time in 2021 and showcases ocean-related films from around the globe.

The festival is a collaborative effort between Húsavík Whale Museum and marine conservation charity, Whale Wise.

Winners will be selected from each category:

- Nordic feature (over 20 min.) and short (under 20 min.)
- International feature (over 20 min.) and short (under 20 min.)
- Student film

All films must have an ocean-related focus.

All films submitted must have been completed between January 2023 and March 2024.

Students must be enrolled in an educational institution during time of film creation to be accepted under the student category.

The following is an explanation of the Rules and Guidelines governing film submissions to the 2024 Ocean Films Húsavík. Compliance with these Rules and Guidelines is necessary in order to participate in the festival. Submission of a film implies unconditional acceptance of the Rules & Guidelines, therefore, please carefully read through the rules prior to submitting your film. 1. Ocean Films Húsavík accepts submissions for films in the following categories:

- Nordic feature (over 20 min.) and short (under 20 min.)
- International feature (over 20 min.) and short (under 20 min.)
- Student film

All films must have an ocean-related focus.

Nordic films must take place or focus on a Nordic country. Filmmakers themselves do not need to be Nordic to submit in this category.

Students must be enrolled in an educational institution during time of film creation to be accepted under the student category.

2. The person(s) submitting the film must hold all legal rights for the submission, as well as all necessary clearances for public exhibition.

3. The filmmaker(s) retain all submission and intellectual property rights.

4. Films must be submitted electronically via FilmFreeway.

5. If a submitted film is in a language other than English, the film must have English subtitles.

6. Filmmakers are allowed to submit more than one film into the festival provided that each film is submitted separately and falls under given guidelines. However, applicants can only be accepted for one film.

7. Ocean Films Húsavík reserves the right to use images/stills from films selected and the festival itself for marketing purposes.

8. All decisions regarding award winners are considered final and incontestable.

9. All films submitted must have been completed between January 2023 and March 2024.

10. Applicants acknowledge that Ocean Films Húsavík reserves the right to change the nature of screenings and events due to circumstances related to public health and welfare. In such cases, no submission refunds shall be issued.
