Matison LeBlanc is a Louisiana-born filmmaker whose work is rooted in the untold stories of her culture, community, and the female condition. Rooted in the textures of her upbringing, her films seek to illuminate the silences surrounding women’s lives and the inherited systems that shape them. Drawing from a multidisciplinary background in painting, theatre, dance, and writing, she brings a distinct visual lyricism and emotional precision to her work.
Matison is a first-generation, Summa Cum Laude graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design, where she wrote and directed five short films. Her debut feature, Ada and the Doc, is inspired by the untold true story of the first woman executed by the state of Louisiana, set in her hometown of Morgan City. The project expands on a proof-of-concept short that screened at Oscar-qualifying festivals, including the 2025 Festival de Cannes, and marks the beginning of her continued exploration of women navigating systems designed to contain them.
Her work has been supported by The Black List, where the Ada and the Doc feature screenplay ranks in the top 5% of all projects, and she will continue to develop the script at the 2026 Stowe Narrative Labs. Her work has also been recognized by the Sundance Institute and the Writers Guild Initiative, and has been featured in IndieWire. Beyond her own projects, she has sharpened her leadership and communication skills on professional productions for Amazon MGM, AMC, A&E, and the NFL, and has expanded her global industry perspective through internships with the American Pavilion’s Cannes 2024 Worldwide Student Program and with Lionsgate’s International Sales Team in 2025.
