
In 2025, the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF) is proud to launch The LIMEHOF Music Documentary Film Festival, a new music documentary festival that amplifies its mission to celebrate music in all its forms.
The Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame Music Documentary Film Festival will showcase films from around the world that examine music topics like music scenes, music history, tours, biographies, festivals, music education, concerts, culture, music technology and the transformative power of music.
The festival will take place at the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame located in Stony Brook, New York. Founded in 2004, LIMEHOF celebrates and preserves the rich musical heritage of Long Island.
Encompassing Nassau, Suffolk, Queens, and Brooklyn, the Long Island Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves as a vital community hub, honoring the region’s profound influence on the global music scene.
Over the years, the Long Island Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame has inducted many legendary artists, including Billy Joel, Lou Reed, Clive Davis, Public Enemy, Carter Burwell, the Ramones, Run-DMC, Carole King, Count Basie, Barbra Streisand, George Gershwin, Neil Diamond, Vince Giordano, Mariah Carey, John Coltrane, Louis Armstrong, Arlo Guthrie and Cyndi Lauper.
Beyond celebrating these icons, LIMEHOF invests in the future through scholarships, educational programs, and its state-of-the-art traveling museum. As Billy Joel once said during his induction, the “Long Island Sound” is a legacy that extends far beyond its geographic namesake.
Now, LIMEHOF is proud to present the Long Island Music and Entertainment Music Documentary Film Festival which will foster a dialogue among filmmakers, musicians, and audiences, as well as create a space where music and storytelling converge.
The three day LIMEHOF Music Documentary FIlm Festival will offer filmmakers the chance to participate in audience Q&A’s, panel discussions, and press interviews. In addition, musicians featured in films will be given the opportunity to perform on the Long Island Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame stage, if interested.
With the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame Music Documentary Film Festival, LIMEHOF continues to honor the past while inspiring future generations of music lovers around the world.
The Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame Music Documentary Film Festival will present a Jury Award for best short and best feature music documentary. Additionally, the festival will present Audience Choice Awards, where attendees have the opportunity to vote for their favorite short and feature film, celebrating the works that resonate most with viewers.
Judges will take into consideration films’ artistic merit, storytelling, technical excellence, and overall contribution to the music documentary genre.
