Not entirely in London. Not entirely about Mountains. Entirely Community!

From a lockdown launch on the couch to a globally distributed film festival, LMFF brings together the world's best adventure films and then sends them back out to be screened in communities around the world. Our Community Hosts make their own curations, enhance their events as they see fit, and then allocate any proceeds to the non-profit project of their choosing.

With 4000 attendees our 2026 edition was our best yet - we empowered local communities to raise £25,000 in support of their sports or youth clubs, charities such as mountain rescue, and local projects including community cinemas. Our selection reaches parts of the world that would never otherwise be able to host an adventure film festival.

LMFF Festival Fortnight includes:

LMFF IN THE COMMUNITY: This is what truly sets us apart from other festivals. By hosting an event during festival fortnight, communities everywhere can deliver their own adventure film events and raise funds, and in 2027 we will again be sharing revenues from Community Event Passes with 'most selected' filmmakers.

LMFF ONLINE: The official selection in its entirety is available to watch online and anywhere in the world. The online event overlaps with the in-person events and runs for two weeks. We categorise by content and enable viewers to interact with us and vote for their favourites.

LMFF IN-PERSON: We have theatre events of our own held up and down the country - in 2026 we screened films at the Alpine Club in London, the Rheged Centre in Penrith on the edge of the Lake District National Park and Eden Court in Inverness, Scotland.

A NOTE ON ACCESSIBILITY: Being online and in communities gives us an opportunity to share adventure stories in a variety of formats to a variety of audiences with different needs. Providing us with open captions and AD versions of your film will enable us to provide tailored experiences to more people.

What kind of films?

We select films that celebrate humans interacting with our beautiful planet - in particular through sports such as climbing, running, cycling, skiing, swimming, kayaking and so on. Adventure, resilience, empowerment, diversity, inclusion, conservation, creativity, heritage .. these are all themes which inspire great stories in the theatre of the outdoors. Awesome people doing incredible things in spectacular places.

Where are these events taking place?

In 2026 there were over 80 screenings including our own. The majority were in the UK, mostly popping up in small towns and villages in Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland. There were a handful of events in far flung places including the US, New Zealand, Canada and Nairobi.

What is our mission?

To leverage our London brand and connect communities around the world through adventure filmmaking. To bring inspiration to places where there are people passionate about adventure. To provide content to people which they can share, bringing people together to support and further their adventurous communities.

For 2027 we have allocated £1000 prize money for filmmakers. We will award £200 each to the five filmmakers who are most selected by our Community Events.

Laurels for all Category Winners.

We absolutely loved being a part of LMFF this year. Greg and the team were wonderful to work with, and always went above and beyond to support our film and make the experience memorable for all the right reasons! We also love the community ethos and inclusivity of this festival's approach to events.
    Highly recommend getting involved!

We were very sad not to be able to attend in person. The Festival organizers were very welcoming and helpful with communications and from afar, I could feel a strong sense of warmth and community. Many thanks for including "Between the Lines" in the 2025 selection!
