The Larissa Lumina AI Short Film Festival explores how artificial intelligence serves as a catalyst for augmented imagination, propelling progress along uncharted paths and heralding the advent of an economy where inspiration is the principal currency.

The festival honors the exceptional human talent behind the creation of groundbreaking storytelling forms.

International Film Festival of Larissa" IFFL, will serve as the main host venue which is already running for 16 years.

We welcome AI-generated short films from around the globe or short Films that utilize AI in some aspect of production.

Our judging committee will review all submissions to ensure quality and creativity.

Each submission is automatically entered into all five awards categories (Best AI Short, Katalist AI Storytelling, Most Innovative AI and Best Greek AI & Lumina Muse.)

Our panel of professional artists and AI experts will evaluate each submission, selecting the best ones on scores in four criteria (refer to Rules & Terms below). Each shortlisted entry will qualify for consideration in all five award categories.

Each winner will receive email notifications from both FilmFreeway and IFFL, along with personalized achievement certificates and Official Laurels as attachments.

The Festival's award-winning films are presented at the end of the screenings and are announced on our official website and social media.

**Q&A**

The AI Film Festival is open to anyone aged 16 years and above on the day of the submission (July 1st 2024), from all over the world.

According to the rules, your AI Short movie should include AI-powered tooling in the creation process, but it is not limited to generative AI.

All submissions intended for Larissa Lumina AI Film Festival must integrate content created using any of the following AI techniques within one of the three primary dimensions of film: text, audio, or video.

These techniques include natural language processing, speech recognition, music and sound generation, voice synthesis, text-to-speech synthesis, text-to-image synthesis, text-to-video synthesis, image-to-image translation, AI-enhanced video editing, animation tools, motion capture, lip-sync technology, and AI-driven video editing and mastering.

Submissions are required to demonstrate the effective application of AI in enhancing creative processes across these domains.
You can choose any AI tools to support you in the several phases of a movie production and you’ll be asked to describe how you used the AI to achieve your result.

*It is not mandatory to produce an AI short movie 100% AI generated.*

You’ll have to upload on your challenge page your submissions and once the status is "selected" you will have to open your film for download.

1. Your short movie. (1-10 mins long)
2. A report explaining the techniques you used.
3.When you submit your AI short movie you have to choose among four thematic areas: Narratives, Pilots, Documentaries and Experimental.

Narratives:AI storytelling applied to classic movie genres such as action, thriller, sci-fi, romance, and more.
Pilots:short film to present longer stories / series for TV, streaming platforms, social media, and more. If the longer stories / series have already been produced and possibly already released, the related Rights must be a property of the Team; it is not possible to produce a Short Film for this Thematic Area based on longer stories / series whose rights are property of third parties.
Documentaries:AI-powered short film documentaries that report on the real-world, made of news, people, history, places, nature, and more.
Experimental:Explore new and creative applications of AI, pushing beyond traditional storytelling and experimenting with art, tech, and more.

Each creator must send only one submission.

If you wish to send more than one short movie, you can create a new account to do so.

There are no specific requirements about which language you use in your short movie. However, please keep in mind that the jury is international, therefore English is preferred.

Can I participate in other competitions with the work I submit for the larissa lumina AI Film Festival?
Yes, we do not require exclusiveness. Your short movie doesn't need to be an original submission for the lariss lumina ai film festival.
