LANDS END – Festival of Film. Sunday 15th May 2027 6pm to 9.00pm on the Denham Foreshore.

At the edge of the continent, where land yields to sea and horizon stretches beyond sight, Australians have always found both identity and imagination. Lands End – Festival of Film is a celebration of that meeting place — a space where stories gather like tides, shaped by isolation, resilience, culture, and connection.

From remote outposts like Shark Bay to bustling coastal cities, the coastline is more than a boundary; it is where lives are built, histories are carried, and futures are imagined. It is a place of arrival and departure, of reflection and renewal. Here, the elements strip life back to its essentials, revealing stories that are deeply human and unmistakably Australian.

This inaugural festival invites filmmakers to explore the emotional, cultural, and environmental ties that bind us to the edge of the land. Through short films of up to ten minutes, Lands End seeks stories that reflect optimism, connection, and meaning — whether grounded in community, nature, memory, or discovery.

Without competition or prize, the festival focuses on something more enduring: the shared experience of storytelling. Each selected film becomes part of a collective narrative — a mosaic of perspectives shaped by the coastline that defines so much of who we are.

At land’s end, stories begin.

If you have a short film, less than 10 minutes, we would love to see it. If your film is selected for screening it will be part of the western most Film Festival on the Australian mainland.

For screening of the Festival, the audience will decide the Award Winner for Best Film in Festival. Each of the film categories will have a winner as judged by a 3 member panel.

A ‘Sharky’ Trophy STL (3D model) file will be sent to each of the winning Filmmakers as recognition of their hard work and the wonderful way they have told a story. The physical Perpetual Trophies will have the winners name added for 2027 and will be displayed in Shark Bay.

All selected films will be emailed a LANDS END - Festival of Festival Laurel along with a Thank You Certificate.

We are running the event again in 2027 we hope to have some wonderful prizes for the Filmmakers to recognise their fantastic work as well as the 'Sharky' Trophy.

  • What a terrific festival! Although we could not be there in person, we are so glad that our film "Washed Up" could be screened and resonate with the community in Gathaagudu - Shark Bay.

Receiving this year's Best Comedy Award was a delight, and we could not be more grateful. Thank you to Land's End for your clear communication and your effort to include us from across the sea. Best of luck for next year!

How could I not give them 5 stars across everything. The Lands End Festival of Film have quickly gone from not even on my radar (because they are so new and I hadn't discovered them yet) to one the film festivals I look forward to creating films for and entering every year. They answered emails (which some festivals don't). They emailed and called to tell me I'd won.
Their trophies are awesome. I'm still buzzing that I won but yeah this team is great and you should make your best film ever and submit it when submissions open for the next one.
