We encourage submissions of cinematic films featuring all dance styles. Each film is watched from start to finish and carefully rated and selected by our programming team.

Please note that our focus is on programming films under 15 minutes in length.

The LA Dance Film Festivalโ€™s mission is to gather creators and lovers of screendance in one place to celebrate dance film and inspire one another! We are a community of creatives who have experienced every aspect of the dance film process, from production to presentation. Our goal is to host a film festival that we would genuinely love to attend, and weโ€™re always exploring new ideas to improve the experience.

Past years have included a collaboration with StandardVision, offering an opportunity for excerpts from winning films to be displayed on a large media facade in Downtown Los Angeles.

Rules & Terms

โ€ข Films must be under ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฑ ๐—บ๐—ถ๐—ป๐˜‚๐˜๐—ฒ๐˜€, including credits.

โ€ข Films must have been created in the last three years.

โ€ข Filmmakers must own the copyrights or have permission/clearance to all content, including the music used in the film.

โ€ข If the film is selected, LA Dance Film Festival shall have the right to use images, stills, and excerpts from the film for promotional purposes related to the Festival.

โ€ข Once selected as an official selection, film submitters may not withdraw their film! Our film festival is highly curated, and to be fair to all filmmakers and respectful of our programmersโ€™ time, Official Selections cannot be withdrawn under any circumstances.

We believe that every film should have the opportunity to be showcased at multiple festivals and reach a wide range of audiences!
