Kolkata International Micro Film Festival - KIMFF 2027 is an International Short & Micro Film Festival, running in its eighth year. This international film festival is organized by Onu Chhobi Welfare Association, Kolkata.

The festival invites all short film makers, micro film makers, mobile film makers with their short, micro and mobile films, in the live action, Animation & Documentary genre, Music Video & Short Scripts for micro film in any language (with English Subtitle), within a duration of 60 minutes (including the title and credits).

The festival aims to showcase the best of latest National and International Short Films of the world in front of the Film lovers of Kolkata, India.

In addition, KIMFF shines a significant amount of light on screenwriting in Bengali language through its Best Cine Writer Awards program with annual competitions in micro and short formats.

KIMFF is well familiar with and understand the complete cycle of, and the challenges of, professional film making. The method is always complicated and unforgiving, from the perils of funding to the delivery of any given job. We understand that a film or screenplay can take a short lifetime to complete, and whether or not any given work is selected at Kolkata International Micro Film Festival, creative minds are encouraged to keep pressing forward!

To get the Winners Trophy, any of the representative of the short film team, must present in the venue.

Awards:

The Top Five Award Winners will get the Winner Certificate and also the Winners Trophy from the Festival Coordinator along with CASH Prize.

All the Officially selected Short and Micro films will get the Laurel of the festival and also the Official Selection Certificate from the Festival Coordinator.

If the crew member of any Officially Selected Short & Micro Films, or Winning Short & Micro Films are not present in the venue, the Winning Trophy or Memento will not be given to the film afterwards, although we will send the soft copy of the certificates to their official email.

Rules & Terms

Duration:
**The film Duration of the Short film or Documentary film should be within 30 minutes, Large Short Films should be within 60 minutes and the Duration of the Micro or Mobile film should be within 15 minutes. The Reel Videos duration should be within 90 seconds.

**The decision of the Jury will be final and no alteration will be entertained.

**Kolkata International Micro Film Festival - KIMFF does not take any type of financial commitment for the expense incurred on the correspondence by the participants. All Travel, Lodging and Boarding and other miscellaneous expenses will have to be borne by the participant himself/herself for attending the festival. No request for the same will be entertained.

**If the Submitted Short Film or Micro Film or Mobile Film is Publicly Available in any YouTube Channel or in Vimeo or in any other Public Video Platforms what so ever, the Short Film will not be Selected for the Festival.

**Once the film or script is submitted, it can’t be withdrawn in any circumstances. However festival director reserve the rights to disqualify any film or Script on certain grounds.

**By submitting live action short & micro & mobile films and Animated Short & Micro Films and Bengali Film Scripts in Kolkata International Micro Film Festival 2024 film makers /producers/ writers takes the whole responsibility of copyright issues of music, script and other creative and technical aspects of the films.

Filmmakers are requested to submit the following through email at imffkolkata@gmail.com

i. Synopsis of the Film or documentaries
ii. Crew and Cast List.
iii. Biography and Filmography of the Film Director
iv. Photograph of the Film Director
v. Still and posters of the film in JPEG format.

By Submitting in this festival the film makers / writers are giving the rights to show the trailers of their short films, or to print the scripts or restrict it from printing to the festival organizers.

    Our team thanks the organizers behind KIMFF 2026 for providing us with the opportunity to present our film "Cause & Effect", and honor it with the title of Best Micro Film - 1st Runner Up. Overall, the festival was well arranged and the punctuality of the organizers was admirable. One suggestion from our end is to provide a small buffer time in between the individual film screenings so that the audience can prepare mentally to take in the matter of the upcoming film with ease. Perhaps it would be better to allow the film-makers to introduce/present their films with a few words prior to the screening, or perhaps even the emcee can introduce the films. Also, issuing certificates to all participants during the event will be a very helpful gesture for those seeking to enhance their CV/portfolio. On the whole, it was an otherwise good experience to participate and attend KIMFF 2026.
