Juan Manuel Buenaventura is a Colombian filmmaker working at the intersection of thriller, science fiction, and psychological drama. His films explore identity, loss, and personal transformation, often placing characters in situations where reality and perception become increasingly difficult to distinguish.
Trained in Visual Arts and Film Directing, he has developed an independent body of work as a director, screenwriter, and producer, spanning short films, medium-length films, and feature films. His selected works include Ada (2019), Aporía (2021), Edu (2022), and PARAPETO (2023).
Through a visually driven approach and independent production practices, Buenaventura crafts stories that examine the human condition through uncertainty, displacement, and the search for meaning. He is currently developing new projects through his production label, CULPABLE films.
